Step 1: Find the Boot. ini file in the C: root directory of the disk, and double-click it to open it with notepad.
Step 2: add the corresponding switch after the corresponding start entry as needed. The specific switch items and their meanings are as follows.
Mode: Security Mode
Switch:/safeboot: minimal/sos/bootlog/noguiboot
Mode: security mode with network connection
Switch:/safeboot: network/sos/bootlog/noguiboot
Mode: security mode with command line prompts
Switch:/safeboot: minimal (alternateshell)/sos/bootlog/noguiboot
Mode: Enable VGA mode
Switch:/basevideo
Mode: Enable start log
Switch:/bootlog
Mode: directory service recovery mode (for domain controllers only)
Switch:/safeboot: dsrepair/sos
Mode: debug mode
Switch:/debug
The following is a sample Boot. ini file for the "safe mode with command line prompts" switch. You can modify it as needed.

Note:
1. The location of the Boot. ini file may vary depending on the partition of the operating system to be installed.
2. if the Boot cannot be found in the root directory of the disk. INI file. Check "Folder Options", remove the check mark before "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", and select "show all files and folders"
3. Remove the "read-only" Attribute before editing the Boot. ini file. Otherwise, the file cannot be saved.
4. The switches listed above have passed the test in Windows 2000/XP operating systems. Due to the computer environment, Windows 2003 series have not been tested.
5. If you are not familiar with the Boot. ini file, back up the file before modifying the file.
6. The/sos/bootlog/noguiboot switch is not required for any of the above settings, but they can be used for troubleshooting. If you press F8 or Ctrl and select one of the modes to enter safe mode, these switches are included.
