Hu Xingdou: A Brief Discussion on the Chinese way of thinking

-- Support Professor Yang zhenning's discussion that the thinking of "Yi Jing" hinders China's scientific development

Chinese people have almost different ways of thinking than Westerners. We are concise and concise. The Chinese language is full of randomness, uncertainty, ambiguity, and suggestive features. Many philosophical books in China are collections of aphorism-based fragments, and there is not much link between statements. For example, the Tao Jing is a famous saying, which is profound but not systematic; for example, the Analects of Confucius often uses a few words to describe the Philosophical Viewpoint, which is simple but not standard. Chinese thinking is vague non-conceptual thinking and non-logical reasoning, which may be related to the use of Chinese philosophy. In China, philosophy is not aimed at "Scholars", "scientists", or "thinkers" in the Western style, but to create a self-developed "person", which is only concise, philosophy can be popularized in the civil society to reach the goal of edifying everyone.

The old man said: "Tao can be said, very Tao" (the "Tao" that can be said is not an eternal "Tao"). "Xuan and Xuan, the door to all wonderful ideas" cannot be said by the Chinese "truth, it can only be "Xuan". Chuang Tzu said, "I'm proud and have forgotten my words." Confucius said, "What is heaven! The saying goes: "Do not set up text". It can be seen that for the Chinese, the truth is all in the air!

However, scientific principles require that they be "traceable" and can be accurately expressed using text symbols.

Our ancestor is good at expressing metaphor, suggestion, and symbol. Metaphor refers to an external object that indirectly expresses itself or other things, especially the metaphor. Chinese slang idioms are filled with such metaphors, simple analogy (often foreign body push), such as "the mountains and rivers are easy to change, the nature is difficult to move", "Ma Shan is riding, good people are bullied, in fact, there is no inevitable connection between landscape, horse, and rabbit, but the Chinese still like this simple thinking.

The Chinese ideology is also full of hints. Chuang Tzu's policy is to say, "If the skin is frozen, the skin is frozen, and then the skin is frozen, then the Luo binwang will say" no one believes in Gao Jie ", zhang Jiu-ling hinted at his height by saying that "grass and wood have their own heart and do not ask for beauty"; Li Bai hinted at the danger of officialdom with "the difficulty of shandao"; Meng Haoran said, "watching the scammers, it implies your envy of the officialdom.

The yin and yang gossip in Yijing and the later five-element thought are typical representatives of Chinese-style symbolic principles: the five elements of yin and yang, the two trees of yin and yang, and the fire of gold and wood, and so on. There are similar ideas in ancient Greece and India, such as "fire" and "four major", but they are only the branches of their culture. Modern western literary schools also have symbolic ideas. They advocate the external metaphor for inner and indirect expression. The representatives of them, such as ellits, Yees, and pound, all like Chinese poetry. Only in western literature, apart from the symbolic, there are also the manifestations, dadalism, Will, existence, stream of consciousness, the absurd, black humor, and so on. We seem to only be symbolic.

The Chinese people's thinking model replaces rationality and logic with intuition, experience, analogy, and symbol, with strong sensibility and weak rationality. Our Ancients recorded Halle's comet for more than 40 times, but no one summed up its operating rules, and finally gave Halle the British the right to discover it. We have long had a view similar to the blood circulation, however, without going up to the theory, Harvey laid the theoretical foundation for the British. We have traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, but remain within the scope of experience or five elements, and are not scientific. No wonder Einstein said: Western science is based on logical reasoning and experimental verification, but China is not on this path. Indeed, unlike the logic, speculative, and empirical models of Western wisdom, China's wisdom is record and descriptive. We have many records of Comet, Nova, and Sunday, we have countless practical technological inventions, but we are always at the capture stage, and our achievements are always at the initial development level. It's no wonder Hugo said: "China is an alcohol bottle that saves the fetus ".

Chinese thinkers such as Chuang Tzu and Han Feizi demonstrated their philosophical propositions with fables, rather than careful reasoning and thinking.

Chinese people are not interested in things outside of reality and lack of metaphysical logic thinking. This will inevitably lead to superficial and systematic theories, and the ridiculous theories will lead to technical stagnation and backwardness. Therefore, it is inevitable for Chinese to fight in modern times.

The Chinese are good at using holistic, holographic, and systematic methods, rather than local, anatomical, and analytical methods. For example, traditional Chinese medicine is a holistic therapy, which may cause headaches. The five elements of gold, wood, water, fire, and Earth constitute a whole, the liver, kidney, spleen, heart, and lung of the human body are also a system and whole. TCM believes that some acupoints contain information about the whole human body, this is in line with the holographic theory of any point in the universe that contains the full information of the entire universe. In the eyes of the Chinese, people, nature, and society are also a whole. This is the ideological basis of harmony between man and nature and collectivism.

The holistic and systematic view is of course good, but we should also learn local, anatomical, microscopic, rigorous, and analytical methods.

We have many "National Quintessence", such as go, which typically reflects the Chinese nationality. For example, go attaches importance to the realm, feeling, pattern, and integrity, advocates the use of flexibility, review the current situation, and release the superyi. It has the characteristics of Chinese people, such as simplicity, Yin and Yang conversion, dialectical compliance, and fuzzy thinking.
