The previous blog introduced the installation of the sybase database server. The address of the previous blog is as follows:
Sybase Database Server Installation
This blog introduces the configuration of the sybase database server and client.

First, we will introduce the server configuration.
In fact, when installing the Sybase server, we have configured an Adaptive Server (step 1 of the installation process ). Generally, we can use one. Of course, if you want to add an Adaptive Server after the installation is complete, this is also possible. Next we will use an instance to demonstrate the configuration process.

Click Start-all programs to Open Server config In the Sybase directory.

The following window is displayed:

Step 2: Select adaptive and click Create adaptiveserver. The following window is displayed. Enter Adaptive Server name and I enter test.

Click continue. The following screen is displayed:

Click continue. The following figure is displayed. If you have other adaptive servers, you have to change the DAT file name. We use master1.

Continue to continue. We still use the naming method in the previous step, using sybprocs1.

Continue to continue. The following screen is displayed:

Click Configure Default XP Server

Click network ses sses

Click "add" and enter your IP address. "5004" is the port number.

Click OK,

Click OK,

Click OK,

Click network ses SSEs, and also click Add

Similarly, enter your IP address and port number. Enter 5000 here. Click OK.

Click "continue" and a relatively long wait screen will appear next, but this shows that our work is coming to an end.

The following figure shows that you have succeeded. Click continue to close those windows.

If you are not at ease, right-click computer-management, and click Services under services and applications, you will find several services we just created (two of them are automatically created for us), such, related to our wood ):

So far, our adaptive server has been built, but if you start the service, the following problems will occur:

What should I do? Don't worry, restart the computer. When you start the service again, you will be surprised to find that the services have started miraculously (generally we start Sybase sqlserver _ test, and Sybase bckserver _ test_bs ). Happy!

The server configuration is over.

Next, let's take a look at the client configuration.

Before talking about the client configuration, I will briefly introduce the Client installation. The Client installation is basically the same as the Server Installation (For details, refer to the Sybase Database Server installation). You only need to make the following selection in Step 1:

After installation, restart the computer.

Configure the client
After the computer restarts, Open start -- all programs -- Sybase -- dsedit utility and start configuring the client.

The following figure is displayed:

Click OK and we can see the name of the service I just created. However, if it is on your computer, these services will not appear. Why? Because my client and server are on the same computer, these services are automatically added. Your computer is different. So what should we do?

Don't worry. Next we will teach you how to add. Right-click server and select Add

Enter the servername you want to connect to. For example, if we want to connect to the test server we just created, enter test here (the name must be the same as the name of the server, otherwise ......, You know ).

Click OK and configure serveraddress. Double-click server address

Click Add

Enter the IP address and port number of the server you want to connect to. Separate them with commas and select TCP as protocol. OK.

After that, check whether it is available. Right-click server address

Click the ping button.

If the following figure appears, congratulations, you have succeeded. Now you can connect to the server.

If unfortunately, it appears in front of you,

This indicates that the network service is unavailable.

The reason may be:
1. Incorrect network service protocol input. Check whether the protocol is consistent on the server.
2. The network is disconnected. In the Command Prompt window, run the ping command to spell the IP address of the server. Run the ping 10.65.37.245 command to check whether the network is disconnected or the TCP/IP protocol is not installed. If reply from 10.65.37.245: Is In the second segment, the network is smooth.
3. The service on the server is not started. In this case, other clients and services cannot work together, nor can they log on to inspur software.

If everything goes well, the Sybase client configuration is complete.
