As we all know, Windows 8 has increased support for virtual media, which allows you to directly open the VHD, ISO, and other files to make it easier for users to use. In particular, the VHD can be easily mounted and modified in Windows 8, which undoubtedly provides a convenient way to store files. If the path to the folder is deeper and the file is often used, why not use the VHD to save the file? This allows you to easily find the file you want in the root directory.
Right-click in the lower left corner of the screen and select Disk Management in the Mystery menu:
In the Disk Management window that pops up, select Create VHD under the Action menu:
Specify the location, size, format, and type of storage for the virtual disk in the pop-up window.
Format: The VHD is an early virtual disk format that can support 2T storage; VHDX is a new virtual disk format for Windows 8, which can support up to 64T, but is not supported in previous versions of the system.
Type: Fixed size specifies the size of the disk to be created directly when the disk is created, and the dynamic extension expands the virtual disk file size to the specified size, depending on the usage.
When Setup is complete, click OK to complete the creation and mount of the virtual disk.
The virtual disk is the same as the physical disk, and the newly created virtual disk needs to be initialized. In Disk Management, right-click the newly created disk and select Initialize disk:
In the pop-up window, follow the prompts to complete the initialization.
After formatting, then right-click the virtual disk to select New Simple volume, specify the size, assign the letter, set the volume label, and complete the format.
After the format is finished, return to the explorer and you will see that the virtual disk you just added is ready to use.
