About this tutorial

This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a WEB application using the JavaServer faces™ (JSF) and EGL Wizards.

The EGL Data Access Application Wizard provides you with an easy way to create an EGL logical process to maintain a particular table in a relational database.

We will use DB2 as a relational database and a STAFF table. Note that the table can be located in other locations such as System Z. For the EGL Wizard, this is no different.

Goal

You will learn how to:

Use the wizard to create an EGL data access program.

Generate Java code from EGL.

Processes the generated Web Pages.

Use WebSphere application Server to deploy and test your program.

Overview of software tools

We will use ibm®db2® as a relational database and a STAFF table. The table can be located in a different location or on the main frame. For the Rational Business Developer Wizard, this is no different.

You will use the Rational Business Developer installed at the top of the ibm®rational®developer for System z™, but this tutorial is for installing in Ibm®rational®application Dev The Rational Business Developer at the top of Eloper or ibm®rational®softwarearchitect is equally effective.

Figure 1 shows the structure of the Data Access Application Wizard provided by the Rational Business Developer.
