In a LAN environment, it is very fast to remember that the previous Dell machine installed Debian x64 through PXE.
But this time the new Dell R730, click F12 for PXE installation, but the general report can not find the installation source, such as errors, in short, very puzzled.
Then search the Internet and read the official Dell video, and finally got the inspiration:
The machine has 4 network ports, the left two are million trillion, and the back two is a gigabit. Because the LAN is gigabit, so can only plug in two, I chose the most right. (at first, because the rear of the engine room is relatively black, did not pay attention to the insertion of Wan Shao, later found that the lights do not flash, only to switch to the last side, then the green light began to flash. )
R730 one must like, is the network card number (1-4) and the back of the network port from left to right order finally one by one corresponding, that is, Nic 1 corresponds to the first port on the left, Nic 4 corresponds to the first one on the right.
The default PXE setting is set to Nic 1, and the boot setting for NIC 1 also sets PXE. Because the network cable is not connected to Nic 1, this setting will cause an error to find the installation source.
So, enter system settings, set PXE on Nic 4, Nic 1 does not set boot, Nic 4 boot is set to PXE.
Then, after rebooting, you find the PXE installation source for the LAN.
Note: PXE mode installation is in BIOS mode, not UEFI mode.
