Microsoft has now confirmed that the Windows Embedded 8.1 system will be brought into the bank's ATM system and the POS machines often used in supermarkets and malls. For this purpose, Microsoft has specifically described the main areas of application of Windows Embedded 8.1:

"The Windows Embedded 8.1 Industrial Edition will provide POS terminal solutions for retail and service industries, which will be widely used in manufacturing and medical applications, and can be installed in equipment such as self-service equipment, power industry equipment, etc." ”

In addition to confirming that Windows Embedded will be upgraded, a new feature of Windows 8.1 RT, Windows 8.1 Pro, and Enterprise version will be available: Assigned Access, Users can qualify only one application in a device based on actual requirements by using assigned access. When this feature is turned on, the system will intercept the open action of the unselected application on the device according to the preset conditions, which means that the user can only use a fixed function or application in the specified device and cannot access the system files or other programs.
