Install Cygwin under Windows 7

To learn to use Hadoop in Windows 7 environment, the first is to install Cygwin. Find a lot of installation strategy, but I installed the time there are some problems. I am a novice and it took me a lot of time to solve these problems ... I'll share my installation experience below.

1, download Cygwin, download the address is: Http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe. This is the official website, you can ensure that you can download to the latest version.

2, right click on Setup.exe, select "Run as Administrator", which eliminates the need to configure SSH a lot of unnecessary trouble. On the Open Installation page, click Next.

3, "Choose a Download Source" select the default "Install from the Internet" on the line, click "Next"

4, "Select Root Install directory" in which you want to install Cygwin to the directory, the other recommended default on the line, click "Next".

5, "Select local Package Directory" To specify the software installation package in the location of the path, click "Next"

6, select the network connection way, the default first "Direct Connection" can be.

7, choose to download Cygwin website, I tried the first site, the speed is good, click "Next"

8, choose to download the installation of the package, package options have several situations,

(1) There are two options for software packages that are not installed

1) Skip: Skip the installation of the software

2) Software number: Determine the installation of the software

(2) There are three options for installed packages

1) Keep: Keep the status quo

2) Reinstall: Reinstall

3) Uninstall: Uninstall

The default is not all selected here. There are a few that need to be noted,

(1) SSH default is not installed, want to use SSH command need to "OpenSSH" and "OpenSSL" selected

(2) To compile Hadoop under Eclipse, for example, to select "sed" under "Base Category"

(3) We also recommend the installation of "Editor Category" under the "Vim" and "Devel Category" under the "Subversion", I installed, temporarily has not found the use of the place ...

(4) does not have to install some software package does not matter, may open Setup.exe again, then will use the election. Do not choose the first installation of all the packages, I was a tragedy of the next 1 hours before the end of 15%, then I changed the default, and soon completed the download and installation of the package.
