Now I have been using the Ubuntu System for my work. I used to use widnows to connect Oracle client to the SAP background oralce database. If you don't want to install another windows server, you have to try the Ubuntu client.
First, go to the oralce official website to download the client corresponding to the server version:
My local system is Ubuntu 10.10x86, and the server is oracle 10g 10.2.0.2. So my following is:
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) Enterprise/Standard Edition for Linux x86 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10201linuxsoft-097986.html
Unzipping: installation under shell./runInstaller first prompts that the operating system is not supported and can only be installed in the RedHat-3, SUSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0 or asianux-1 system.
After searching online, you can add a file to cheat the installer. add the following content to sudo vim/etc/redhat-release and save entOS release 4.4 (Final). The following steps are very simple. At last, like installing the oracle server, two scripts should be executed as root. if the/bin/awk directory cannot be found during script execution, create a symbolic link ln-s/usr/bin/awk
Run the oemapp command (note the path variable or in the oracle_home directory) to open the corresponding management tool .~ /Oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1/bin/oemapp console
You can create a menu bar or a shortcut key on the panel. Finally (there is a picture with the truth)
