Internet Connection Sharing settings for Windows
At present, many families and offices have more than one computer, but not every computer has its own telephone line (Internet connection, how can I enable all computers at home or in the office to share their network cables and access the Internet at the same time? You don't need any third-party software. You only need to install Windows 98 version 2 or Windows Me/2000!
Preparations
Computers in the home or office must be connected to the Internet, and one of them must be able to access the Internet (host for short ). You can access the Internet through a modem or by using ISDN or DDN. Other computers need to use the NE2000 compatible network card to form an equal-to-peer network. In software preparation, the host must have the Windows 98 version 2 or Windows ME operating system installed. It is best to install Windows 98 or later on other computers.
Implementation Process
The following describes how to set up LAN Internet Connection Sharing. The host uses the Windows Me operating system as an example, and the other computers (clients) use the Windows 98 operating system as an example:
I. Host settings
1. Install the "Internet Connection Sharing" component
Go to "my computer> Control Panel> Add/delete Programs> Windows Installer" and double-click "Internet tools ". In the displayed window, check "Inter-net connection sharing", and then "OK" to install this component. The system automatically requires that the selected program be installed, and then restarts the computer.
2. Create a Home Network
After the restart, start the Home Network Wizard from "Start → program → attachment → communication". When you enter "use the Internet on the local machine", select "yes ", and select to use the network card to connect to the ISP. After entering the next step, name the host and create a uniform working group name for the connected computer (must be unified) (1 ). Then follow the prompts to restart the system without creating an installation disk.

3. Specify an IP address for the NIC
Next, right-click the "Network Neighbor" icon on the desktop and select the "properties" option. In the displayed window, you will find that "Internet Connection Sharing (Protocol)" is included) → Internet Connection Sharing "," In-ternet Connection Sharing (Protocol) → Realtek RTL8029 (AS) PCIEthernetAdapter (this is the network card name, which may vary with you) "," Internet Connection Sharing (Protocol) → dial-up network adapter "," TCP/IP → Internet Connection Sharing "," TCP/IP (Home Network) → RealtekRTL8029 () PCI EthernetAdapter and other sharing protocols (2 ). Double-click the "TCP/IP (Home Network) → RealtekRTL8029 (AS) PCIEthernetAdapter" protocol. When the TCP/IP (Home Network) attribute window appears, select the "IP address" page, fill in 192.168.0.1 in the IP address bar, fill in 255.255.255.0 In the subnet mask bar, and the other will not change, and then restart the computer.

Next, check "Enable Internet Connection Sharing" and "display icon on the taskbar", and then "connect to the Internet: "select" dial-up adapter ", and then select your Nic name (such AS RealtekRTL8029 (AS) PCI EthernetAdapter) (3) in" use when connecting to my home network ). Click OK to exit. The host configuration is complete.

Ii. Client settings
The setting of the client is relatively simple. After the "Internet Connection Sharing" component is installed as the host, start the "Internet Connection Wizard" from "Start> program> attachment> Internet tools ", select "manually set an Internet connection or connect through a LAN ". When "how to connect to the Internet" is displayed, select "connect through LAN". When you enter the LAN configuration, check "automatically search for proxy servers". Otherwise, no options are selected. Finally, the mail account setting wizard, you can ignore it, click "cancel. After that, you can open the IE browser and enter "Tools> Internet Options" to specify a shared Nic and enable Internet Connection Sharing. You do not need to perform other work. After the above settings, a high-configuration host can bring several clients to access the Internet at the same time. On the host desktop, the host operator can double-click the share icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar to see a shortcut menu. Through these menus, you can see the total number of clients on the host sharing the host to access the Internet, you can also disable any client from accessing the Internet at any time. But how happy is it?
Edited:This solution is a typical case of "Local sampling. Making full use of existing resources to create maximum value is what we should pursue when using computers.
