You can take advantage of the version features of IBM Rational Focal point to generate snapshots for an element, including investment analysis data. When a new version is created, the current values of all properties are recorded. The Version property saves a list of all recorded versions.
Typically, the purpose of setting up a version property is to automatically create a new version when certain properties change. But you can also add the version manually, which makes it possible to generate snapshots when needed. You can also generate snapshots for several elements at the same time.
Prerequisites
You need to configure the time grid properties for investment analysis. You can also retrieve investment analysis results within attributes (such as NPV Mean), so it is valuable to have snapshots of them. For information about how to set up, see the IBM Rational Focal Point documentation.
All supported versions of IBM Rational Focal Point have version properties and can be used to generate snapshots in the way described. Investment analysis is available starting from V6.5.0.0.
Configuration
To generate a snapshot, you need a version attribute and a Text property. The Text property is used to store the label of the snapshot.
To configure the snapshot's Label property and the Snapshot property:
Select Configure > Attributes and add a text attribute to the module in which the time grid is located. Provides a descriptive name for this text property, such as Snapshot label.
Add a version attribute to the same module.
In the Version property configuration, specify that the snapshot label should be incremented by setting "increased by" to Major (1) for Snapshot label.
