Microsoft released the Hyper-V server virtualization technology software on Thursday to compete with its rival VMware.
According to foreign media reports, Hyper-V is a part of Windows Server 2008. It allows users to run multiple virtual machines on one computer, it saves the company a lot of money on equipment, power supply, maintenance and other expenses. Microsoft said that Hyper-V can provide a good solution for users seeking to enhance server capabilities, disaster recovery, fast system migration, and build a secure testing and development environment.
Microsoft previously said it would launch this product in August this year, and now it is available two months ahead of expectation.
Microsoft launched the Hyper-V candidate version close to the final version in March, which supports Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows XP SP3, windows Vista SP1 and Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server operating systems. It is reported that the final version of Hyper-V added support for Vista SP1 x64 and Windows XP SP2 x64 operating systems.
