Photoshop lock Layer

Locking is a useful feature in early Photoshop because the version only allows you to undo one step at a time. Locking is often used to prevent misoperation. And now the version has the history of the function, has no more than one or two times of misoperation. So in practical terms, there are few opportunities for locking functions.

Photoshop offers 4 ways to lock up. We see that there is always a locked flag on the background layer because the background layer automatically has some locking capabilities. We can set the lock on the layer ourselves. The layer's locking options are located to the left of the fill opacity (the red arrow at the bottom).

Before locking, you must first confirm that the layer is selected correctly, only allows you to use the lock if you select a single layer, select multiple layers, or select a background layer to lock the operation. To lock the background layer, you must first change it to a normal layer. In addition, some lock items are not available except for special layers other than normal layers, such as fill layers, adjustment layers, and so on.

Click on the Lock position button above the layer palette so that the layer cannot be moved. If you try to move, a warning box pops up. The following left image is a warning to move with the mouse, and the bottom right is a warning to nudge the keyboard. After we have placed some layers in the future, we can use this lock to prevent accidental movement.

If the image pixel lock is turned on, then we cannot modify the pixels in the layer, which includes drawing tools such as brushes and using color adjustment commands. To make it clear, moving a layer does not change the pixel, although the image changes in effect. Suppose that the layer originally has 1000 pixels, the move is still 1000 pixels, although some pixels may be moved out of the image boundary and invisible, but they still exist.

We already know that there are some "nothing" areas in the layer that are called transparent areas. There are two kinds of statements in this transparent area: one is "no pixel exists" and the other is "full transparent pixel distribution". There's no need to think about what the two statements are, the relationship between the transparent and opaque parts of the layer, we can imagine the relationship between the desert and the oasis, the desert is the same as the transparent area of the layer, and the oasis is equivalent to the layer already has the actual image content part. The role is equal to ensure that the area of the oasis is unchanged, the oasis part will not become a desert, the desert part will not become an oasis. When this lock is turned on, the drawing tool cannot function in the transparent area. It can only be drawn in the opaque area of the existing content, as shown in the 2 figure below, using the Brush tool 〖b/shift B〗 to draw the different results along the same trajectory on the two premises of closing and opening the face layer transparent pixel lock.

If the lock is turned on, the layer cannot be drawn or moved. And you cannot change layer opacity and layer blending mode. In the first 3 locks, layer opacity and blending mode are allowed to change.
