Recently tested and recorded. Three conditions apply to Windows2008 and above operating systems. The Windows2003 is suitable for 1 or 2 cases.
One, virtual machine Case 1:
1, 1 Disk 500G (basic disk MBR partition), with partition C, disk D.
Extension: The vcenter can scale up to 2TB and can be extended to the D drive in the virtual machine.
Second, virtual machine situation 2:
1, 1 Disk 100G (basic disk MBR partition) C drive.
2, 1 Disk 500G (basic disk MBR partition) d drive.
Extension mode: Add a disk, expand to convert to Dynamic disk expansion D disk, online lossless extension.
Three, virtual machine Situation 3:
1, 1 Disk 100G (basic disk MBR partition) C drive.
2, 1 Disk 500G (basic disk GPT partition) d drive.
Expansion mode: If the D disk is originally a GPT partition, you can directly extend the partition over 16TB (VMware ESXi5.5 version and above), online lossless extension.
So: Windows virtual machine template C-disk, after cloning and then allocating a disk to the GPT partition, or converted to dynamic disk, dynamic disk can expand the larger space.
