What is the maximum length of TCP, UDP, IP packets

Source: Internet
Author: User

One, the transport layer

TCP: For TCP, the data is streamed, the transmission data can be close to infinity, the data of a single transmission is restricted to the network layer.

UDP: While for UDP, Baotou accounted for 20 bytes, the largest package is 65535-20=65515, the data of a single transmission is restricted to the network layer.

Second, the network layer

LAN: The MTU is approximately 1500 bytes, which means that an IP packet can transmit approximately 1460 bytes.

Internet: Depending on the network environment, typically the IP packet can transmit approximately 512 bytes (and some can transmit 1460 bytes).

Summary: If the network packet loss rate is constant, the larger the packet, the higher the probability of data transmission failure.
