Well, I know a simple answer is that the DBA is a database administrator, but what role does it play? If you had to describe it to a non-technical person, what would you say? The DBA plays many different roles and functions. I have seen or used some roles or features: Install SQL Server, manage server performance including disk space usage, backup management, access control and user rights roles, manage replication and multiple failure clusters, and adjust indicator performance, SQL work, alerts, data mailboxes, release database scripts. I think it can be described as the core of DBA responsibility.

I also see that depending on the size of the company you work for, some DBA companies have some extra responsibilities and things can be described as more database development engineers, such as creating icons, views, functions, and stored procedures. or more responsibilities in the field of data architects, such as database design, patterns, table specifications, keys and indexes. Sometimes, a database administrator can manage the wrapper for SSIS, and the database can be written to or output. Other times they may need to use SSIS or other reporting tools to do some reporting. As you get more into the BI environment, there may be data warehousing and ETL package management, and I'm sure I've lost some of my views on DBAs here.

In my previous work, I worked as a web developer for database development. It is a very small store, and I am one of the people with the most extensive database experience. Before I knew it, I was installing SQL Server, setting up backup and managing SQL Server performance, and so on. I've been working for nine years, and two-thirds of those jobs are DBAs, database architects or database developers who don't work for the company I work for, not for their customers. No one really asks me to do it, but I see the need to put it on.
Now some people are leaving here with the aim of having a minimum of work. They're just trying to skate under the radar. These people, when they are data administrators, do the job that is competent. The database server is running. But this is not the database administrator I want to define. I think one thing that defines a good database administrator is that someone is willing and ready to work beyond the scope of their work. They manage their core tasks, but they are also willing to help other aspects of the work beyond the database administrator. They are not afraid to learn or try something new. They are team members who want to see the project succeed and are willing to roll up their sleeves and be willing to stain their hands in the process.
How do you define a DBA? What roles and responsibilities do you have in your work at the moment?
