Windows 7 can save up to 25% energy compared to XP

Microsoft has repeatedly declared that the upgrade of Windows 7 will save a lot of resources for enterprises. Today, green and environmental protection have become the focus of enterprises' attention, and energy conservation has to be considered. Recently, Mindteck, an embedded software development and consulting company, tested the power consumption of Windows 7 and XP in sleep, low usage, and high usage on multiple computers.

From the test results, thanks to its excellent power management, Windows 7 can save a lot of money for enterprises. In factory settings, the power consumption difference between Windows 7 and Windows XP is extremely significant. On the Pentium 4 server, if the default factory settings are not changed, the power consumption of Windows 7 is 25% less than that of Windows XP. Even after updating all drivers to the latest version, Windows 7 still saves 10% of power over XP.

Compared with the Pentium 4 machine, Windows 7 and XP have a lower power consumption gap on higher-end computers, but Windows 7 still saves 3% of the average energy consumption compared with XP.
