Windows 8.1 and IE11 to speed up the reading of JPEG files

In some of the improvements in the IE11 of important components in Windows 8, we can see that the new version uses an entirely different algorithm for reading images, both downloading and rendering faster. In IE11, Microsoft uses a new color component reading method to read an image of RGB color, and then through chroma sampling compression, discrete cosine transform, quantization and Huffman encoding processing to obtain and combine the image, the three primary colors parallel processing.

In this way, the GPU's computing power can be used as much as possible, reducing the CPU from CBCR to RGB color conversion steps, thereby effectively lifting the image decoding and rendering speed, decoding speed up to 17.9ms, drawing speed 57.5ms.

Microsoft said that the browser in the process of opening the Web page 61% of the time with the image, while the image file and 47% are JPG files, so the processing of JPG can improve the speed of Web page rendering.
