First, the experimental simulation environment:

Zhuyu company has a DNS server, because the DNS server is older, ready to migrate to a new DNS server (DNS backup can do so).

Legacy DNS Server:

Host name: Test-zhuad IP Address: 192.168.10.30

New DNS server:

Host name: Test-beiad IP Address: 192.168.10.31

Second, the idea of DNS migration:

First step: First stop the old DNS server DNS service, modify the old DNS Server service startup type, modify to start with a file, copy zone data files are in the \windows\system32\dns directory, the old DNS server network disconnects or withdraws the old DNS server.

Step Two: Modify the new DNS server computer name Test-beiad to the old DNS server computer name Test-zhuad, and put the new DNS server IP address 192.168.10.31 modify the old DNS server IP address 192.168.10.30, stop the new DNS server DNS service, and then overwrite the old DNS server directory \windows\system32\dns file with the new DNS server file directory \ Windows\system32\dns, then start the new DNS server DNS service, modify the service startup type of the old DNS server, modify it to start from Active Directory and the registry, and then test with Nslookup.

Third, the actual operation steps:

++++++++++ old DNS server operation steps ++++++++++

1. Modify the service startup type of the DNS server and modify it to start with a file.

Note: because the DNS boot information can have three ways to save, one can be saved in the boot file, the second is can be saved in the registry, and three can be saved in active Directory. Microsoft may be afraid that users mistakenly deleted the boot file, so by default the boot information is saved in two different ways. In this case, we will directly start the DNS startup from the file, you can see the boot file in the \windows\system32\dns directory.

2. Stop the DNS service on the old DNS server.

3, back up the old DNS server zone data files are in the \windows\system32\dns directory, and then use a USB flash drive to copy the files to the new DNS server for recovery, the old DNS server has been backup completed.

++++++++++ new DNS server Operations +++++++++

(You need to disconnect or withdraw the old DNS server before the operation to avoid network names and IP conflicts)

1. The new DNS server computer name Test-beiad modified to the old DNS server compute name TEST-ZHUAD-----Select Restart System.

2. The new DNS server IP address 192.168.10.31 is modified to the old DNS server IP address 192.168.10.30.

3. Stop the DNS service for the new DNS server.

4. Copy the DNS files backed up by the old DNS server to the new DNS server C:\Windows\System32\dns directory.

5. After starting the new DNS Server DNS service----refresh the DNS service again.

6. Right-click Test-zhuad----property.

7. Advanced---Load zone data selection from Active Directory and registry startup.

8. Display the data created by the old DNS server, indicating that the migration was successful.

9, the System DOS command run Nslookup tool can test the external network and intranet DNS are normal.
