To solve this problem, use the Windows fault recovery console to extract a new copy of the kernel32.dll file from the original Windows XP installation disc. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Start the fault recovery console. If you have not installed the fault recovery console, start it from the Windows XP installation CD. To do this, follow these steps: A. Insert the Windows XP installation disc and restart the computer. If a prompt appears, select all the options required to start from the installation disc.
B. when starting the installation part of the basic text, follow the prompts and press the r key to select the repair or recovery option.
C. If you are using a dual-boot or multi-boot system, select the installation to be accessed from the fault recovery console.
D. Enter the administrator password when prompted.
 
2. At the command prompt, type CD system32 and press Enter.
3. Type Ren kernel32.dll kernel32.old and press Enter.
4. type map and press Enter.
