The Windows Registry (Registry) is essentially a large database that stores the following: Software and hardware about configuration and status information, initial conditions, preferences, and unload data for the application and Resource Manager shell; The setup of the computer's entire system and various licenses, The file name extension is associated with the application, the description of the hardware, the state and the attributes, the computer performance record and the underlying system state information, and various other data.
Method opens the registry directly
In an XP or Win7 system, click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of the screen, and then click the "Run ..." button:
or press Windows key +r to open the Run dialog box:
In the Open input box, enter the "regedit" command, as shown above;
Click the OK button to eject the User Account Control dialog box and ask if you want to allow the prompt dialog box for Registry Editor to open (if you do not have this dialog box on an XP system):
Clicking the Yes button in the User Account Control dialog box above opens the Registry editing window:
Method Two registration is not open
Sometimes there is no response when you enter the "regedit" command in the "Run" dialog box, and it is likely that the registry has been disabled for access, but it is also possible that the computer was poisoned! This problem may also occur when you have used optimization software.
If the registry is blocked access, click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the screen and choose Run from the pop-up menu:
Enter "Gpedit.msc" in the text entry box in the pop-up Run dialog box, and click the OK button.
Open the Group Policy window. Expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, and systems in turn:
Then locate and double-click the "Block Access Registry Editing Tool" item in the right window, as shown in the figure;
In the pop-up block access Registry Editing Tool Properties dialog box, select the Disabled single option:
Finally, click on the "OK" button to save the settings, exit the "Group Policy", you can unlock the registry.
