The file and print sharing problems that Vista users encounter when they are in use, mostly from firewalls, shared folders, security and share permissions, shared roots, and no shared resources found five aspects, I translate here, can improve the understanding of vista sharing.
Use of a third party firewall
Windows Vista contains a built-in firewall: Windows Firewall. Windows Firewall automatically allows inbound traffic when network lookup or file printer sharing is turned on. Of course, many users use other firewall products, such as Windows Live OneCare or Pc-cillin, which, by default, will block inbound requests for network lookups and file printer sharing traffic. If you use these non-Windows firewall firewall products, Windows Vista displays the closed items in the shared and discovered columns in the network and Sharing Center windows. If so, you must adjust the firewall settings to allow network discovery and file printers to share traffic.
In order for the computer running Windows Vista to find the current computer, you must allow inbound TCP and UDP traffic as follows: UDP 3702/tcp 5357/tcp 5358
In order for a computer running Windows XP to find the current computer and file print sharing with a computer running Windows XP and Windows Vista, you must allow the following inbound traffic: UDP 137/udp 138/tcp 139/tcp 445
In order for the network device to find the current computer, you must allow the following inbound traffic: UDP 1900/tcp 2869
Unable to successfully access Windows Vista shared folder
When you access a shared folder on a Windows Vista computer in a previous Windows XP version of Windows, or a non-Windows operating system, or on a network device, if validation is not possible, there may be a problem with the settings for NTLM2. NTLM2 is the authentication protocol used for file and printer sharing links. Windows Vista uses NTLM2 by default. (www.3lian.com)
To solve this problem, you can try the following methods:
1> allows NTLM2 on computers or devices that Windows Vista computers are trying to link to. For Windows XP Previous versions of Windows, refer to how to allow NTLM2 to verify http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239869. For non-Windows operating systems, refer to the corresponding operating system's documentation on how to enable NTLM2 authentication. Web Teaching Network to remind you for network equipment, please login to the appropriate Web site to obtain relevant information, or download the firmware update to support NTLM2. This is Microsoft's recommended solution.
2> If you cannot change the parameters of a non-Windows operating system, or if your network device does not support NTLM2, you can change the following key values to 1 in Windows Vista:
Hkey_local_machine/system/currentcontrolset/control/lsa/lmcompatibilitylevel
