Futuremark has released the Windows 8/RT version of 3DMark performance test software and has allowed users to score comparisons with other platforms, such as Android or iOS. Application of the test project is still ice Storm, ice Storm Extreme and ice Storm unlimited three species. The Ice storm test is a test project designed for mobile devices that supports the 720p fixed-resolution DirectX 11 benchmark and is then output to match the native display resolution for the GPU and CPU stress testing.
The Ice Storm Extreme improves the rendering resolution to 1080p and uses a higher texture and post processing effect for high-performance mobile devices.
Finally, Ice Storm Unlimited is also the strictest of the 3. The test turns off vertical synchronization, display resolution scaling, and other operating system factors that affect the results.
Futuremark explained, "in unlimited mode, the rendering engine uses a fixed step length between frames (a fixed time stage) and renders the same frame on each device that is running." These frames will run in the 720p off-screen mode ".
The application is easy to use and completely free of charge for Windows 8 and Windows RT, and interested users can click on the download link below.
