Online upgrades to the computer system is often the case, and in many people seem to upgrade the online as if the system is automatically completed, we have to do is almost as soon as the system is upgraded to restart the system so simple! In fact, online upgrades are not as simple as we think; in some special system environments, Online upgrades can be a variety of baffling annoyances. This is not, the author recently through the Windows Update feature to the Windows XP SP2 operating system online upgrade, found that the system unexpectedly pop-up "Administrators only" such a failure prompt; In the face of such escalation troubles, the author scratching, I don't know how to proceed with the system online upgrade operation. After consulting the relevant data, and after many times of practice pondering the test, the author was very easy to find the fault of the solution, now it will contribute to communicate with you!

Under normal circumstances, "Administrators only" fault prompts often because we choose a non-administrator account login system caused by, or because the local computer system is restricted by the LAN export firewall, Of course, if the local system is through a proxy server to connect with the Internet network, it is also possible to encounter the upgrade failure above. To this end, in order to eliminate the system upgrade in the process of "Administrators only" fault prompts, we should first confirm that we have to use the Administrator account to log into the Windows system, in the guarantee of the correct login account selection, and then check the local If the computer is accessing the Internet through a proxy server, if so, we need to contact the local LAN administrator and ask them to check whether the proxy server or LAN firewall has configured the Windows Update action to allow traffic. If a few of the above exclusions, "Administrators only" failure prompts can still not be properly eliminated, it is most of the local computer system itself encountered problems, this time we may wish to follow the following steps to try to:

If the local computer uses a proxy server to access the Internet, then we can run the IE program, open the IE browser window, and then click the Tools menu item in the menu bar of the window and execute Internet Options from the pop-up drop-down menu. Go to the Internet Options settings interface, click the Advanced tab in the interface, and go to the Options Settings page as shown in Figure 1, and check the settings page to see if the "Use HTTP1.1 via proxy connection" item is selected and if it is not selected, We may wish to select it again and click the OK button and then try to restart the system online.

If the above steps don't solve the problem, we can go back to the Windows system desktop, click the Start button, click Run on the Start menu, open the Local System's Run dialog box, enter the string command "Gpedit.msc", and then click Enter Enter the Group Policy Editor interface to the local computer. In the display pane on the left side of the interface, locate the User Configuration branch item, and then expand the Administrative Templates, taskbar, and Start menu subkeys below the branch item with the mouse, and under the taskbar and Start menu subkeys, locate the "Delete to Windows Update" access and links. Project and double-click the item with the left key, open the property settings interface shown in Figure 2, select the Disabled option in the Setup interface, and click OK to save the settings above, and then restart the computer system, and believe that such efforts will probably be "Administrators Only "failure to remove the prompt.

After attempting the above setup operation, the "Administrators only" failure hint still cannot disappear, we can click the start/Run command again, open the system's Run dialog again, and then execute the "regedit" string command, Go to the local Registry Editor interface, in the left pane of the interface, locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE "branch item, and then expand the software\microsoft\windows\ below the branched item by the mouse." Currentversion\windowsupdate, and then right-click the "WindowsUpdate" subkey, and execute the permission command from the pop-up shortcut menu to open the Permission Settings dialog box shown in Figure 3. Click the Add button in the dialog box, open the Select Users and Groups selection dialog box, where you select and import the Everyone account, and then in the group or User Name list box in the Figure 3 interface, select the Everyone account that you just added, and then in the Everyone's Permissions list box, set the Everyone account's access to Full control, click OK, and then restart the computer system, log in to the Windows Administrator with the Super Admin account, and then execute the System Start menu again. Windows Update command to perform an online upgrade of the system to see if the system upgrade operation can proceed smoothly this time.

If this online upgrade does not go smoothly, it must be stored in the system folder "%systemroot%\system32\catroot2" in the relevant system files are corrupted, this time we can only do the following data repair operations are most likely to solve the problem:

First click the start/Run command, and then in the System Run text box that appears, enter the string command "cmd" and switch the system screen to MS-DOS when you click Enter.

At the DOS command line prompt, the input string command "net stop cryptsvc", the system's CRYPTSVC service will be forcibly stopped after clicking enter key;

Then at the DOS command prompt, the string command "Ren%systemroot% \system32\catroot2 catroot2old" is executed again, so the system renames the "Catroot2" folder name to "Catroot2old"; The string command "net start cryptsvc" continues below to restart the system Cryptsvc service. After the above operation, we again execute the system "start" menu, "Windows Update" command, the system online upgrade operation, I believe that the system will continue to upgrade smoothly.
