Boot Camp helps you to install Microsoft Windows on your Mac. After you install, restart your Mac to switch between MacOS and Windows.

Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary items:

• Intel-based Mac
• A Microsoft Windows installation media or disk image (ISO) that contains 64-bit Microsoft Windows 8 or later, Home or Pro versions. * If you are installing Windows for the first time, use a full installation (not an upgrade) disc or disk image.
• Apple keyboard, mouse, or trackpad, or USB keyboard and mouse
• At least one GB of free disk space on the boot drive
• A blank USB 2 flash drive with a capacity of up to GB or greater. (If you're using one of these Mac models, you don't need a flash drive)

Check system requirements

Some versions of Windows require a specific processor and more hard drive space and memory (RAM) than other versions. Check the documentation that came with your copy of Windows to see what you need. Then use System information to learn about your MAC's current configuration.

Get the Windows disk image

When you buy Windows, it is available as a downloadable disk image file (ISO) or as an installation CD or USB flash drive. If your copy of Windows is available as a DVD, you may need to create a disk image of it to work with Boot Camp. If your version of Windows is available as a USB flash drive, you can download the ISO from Microsoft.

Open Boot Camp Assistant

Boot Camp Assistant walks you through the process of installing Windows on your Mac. Please open the app from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. Then follow the onscreen instructions to repartition the boot disk and download the relevant software driver for Windows. If you receive a prompt during installation, connect a blank USB 2 flash drive.

Format a Windows partition

When the assistant is finished, the MAC restarts to Windows setup. When you are asked about the Windows installation location that you want, select the bootcamp partition, and then click Format.

This step is required only if you are installing Windows with a flash drive or optical drive. In all other cases, the system chooses the correct partition and automatically formats it for you.

Install Windows

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation of Windows.

Restart your MAC

When you are finished installing Windows, restart when you want to switch between MacOS and Windows. Use the Startup Disk Preferences pane in MacOS or the boot Camp system tray entry in Windows to select the Startup disk, and then restart your computer.
