Some people may not know how to configure a soft route in Windows 2000. Here we mainly introduce how to configure a soft route in Windows 2000. In the LAN, to prevent private file transfer between departments, generally, the IP addresses of different departments can be set on different CIDR blocks.

After this setting, because the assigned IP address is not in a CIDR Block and cannot access each other, data exchange is unlikely. However, if the organization wants to send a notification online, different network segments will become a "stumbling block" to block delivery ". To achieve "mutual access" between different CIDR blocks, you must set a router between different CIDR blocks. If you spend tens of thousands of yuan to buy a vro, it is a bit worthless. In fact, we can use the configuration of soft routing in Windows 2000 to achieve mutual access between two different network segments.

I. Preparations for achieving "mutual access"

1. Install the Windows 2000 Server operating system on a computer so that you can configure soft routes later;

2. install two NICs on the computer;

3. install the TCP/IP protocol on the computer and configure IP addresses for the two NICs, for example, 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 and 192.168.2.1/255.255.255.0 ), make the two NICs in two different IP network segments.

Ii. Install soft Routing

To enable the Windows 2000 Server to have a soft route function, we must install the soft route. We can install it through the following steps. First, log on to Windows 2000 Server as the domain user administrator. Then, click Start/programs/Administrative Tools/routes and remote access to open the Routing and Remote Access window. Click the "operations" menu, select the "configure and enable Routing and Remote Access" command, and run the "route and Remote Access Server Installation Wizard ", click "Next", select the "network router" option, and then click "Next" 1 ).

Generally, only the TCP/IP protocol and NetBEUI protocol are installed in the LAN computer, and only the TCP/IP protocol has the routing function. The AppleTalk protocol is only used for communication between Apple computers. Because the TCP/IP protocol is displayed in the "protocol" list, select "yes, all available protocols are on the list" option and click "Next ". If you do not install the remote access service, you can select "no" in the subsequent window, click "Next", and then click "finish, you can complete the "route and Remote Access Server Installation Wizard ".

3. configure a soft route

The installed soft route hasn't been used yet. Next we need to configure the soft route. Log on to the server as an administrator and click Start. In the programs group, there is a "Computer Management" and click the "Management Tools" program group, the "Administrative Tools" contains a "Routing and Remote Access" item, and then opens the "Routing and Remote Access" window. Right-click the server name of the route to be enabled, and click "properties". On the "General" tab in the window that appears, select the "vro" check box and select "only for LAN) select the route option and click OK ". In the "Routing and Remote Access" window, open "IP Route Selection" in the left-side directory tree, right-click "General", and select "New Route Selection protocol" in the shortcut menu ", the "New Route entry protocol" dialog box is displayed. In the "route entry protocol" list, select "RIP version 2 for Internet Protocol", and click "OK, in small and medium networks, we recommend that you select the RIP Protocol and OSPF protocol in large networks ). Right-click "RIP" in the directory tree and select "New Interface" in the shortcut menu to display the "new interface for RIP version 2 of Internet protocol" dialog box. In the interface list box, select the first network interface, that is, "Local Connection", and click "OK" to display the "RIP properties" dialog box. In this case, you only need to take the RIP attribute to the default value of the system, click OK ". Add the second network interface for RIP in the same way, that is, "Local Connection 2", to complete the routing configuration.
