Reasonable power management can prolong the battery life of the laptop and reduce the power consumption of the desktop computer. The settings are as follows:
Log on to your computer as an administrator.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel ".
Click performance and maintenance ".
Click power options ".
In the "power options properties" dialog box, on the "power usage" tab, click the "power usage" drop-down list and select the power usage solution closest to your computer usage.
If applicable, you can adjust the "System standby" and "System sleep" Settings (if you are not satisfied with the default selection ).
The standby function can shut down the most frequently-consumed components in the computer when the computer is not in use, thus reducing power consumption. It takes only a few seconds to start the computer from the STANDBY state. The sleep function saves the program and closes the computer completely. The computer does not consume power during sleep, but it takes several seconds to recover from sleep when you need to use the computer again.
Setting a short delay before the standby and sleep can reduce power consumption, but it may be inconvenient to wait for the computer to start.
On the "advanced" tab, you can adjust the default behavior of the power button on your computer. On a laptop, you can significantly extend battery time by setting the "when I close my laptop" option to "standby.
On the "Sleep" tab, select "enable sleep" (if not selected ).
Click OK ".
Power management options (such as "system standby" and "System sleep") are the trade-off between power conservation and ease of use. If it is difficult for your computer to enter the standby or sleep state, repeat these steps to increase the delay duration or completely disable these features.
