The Windows XP registry is very large. It collects configuration and status information related to hardware and software, and various user-related settings. To prevent registry corruption, we need to back up the Registry frequently. We all know that the Windows 98 registry can be manually backed up. In fact, the Windows XP Registry can also be manually backed up.
In Windows XP, the System configuration file is stored in the "Config" directory under "System32", which mainly includes files without suffixes such as Sam, System, Software, and Default, and the corresponding log files. The user configuration files are stored in the "DocumentsandsettingsUsername" directory under the Windows XP installation directory, mainly including Ntuser. dat and the corresponding log file.
When manually backing up the Windows XP registry, you only need to copy the above files to other directories. If you use multiple operating systems, you can back up these files in other operating systems. If the NTFS file system is used for Windows XP partition installation, you can start the Recovery Console program and directly use the Copy command to back up the data. The Recovery Console program can be installed using the ipolicwinnt32.exe/javascons command in the Windows XP installation disc.
