How to replace a command prompt with Windows PowerShell

wouldn't it be nice to replace PowerShell with a command prompt in the Start button in Windows 10? I know you have questions, why do you do it? The ability to run DOS commands may be lost. Well, let me explain. First, there is no such thing as dos in the Windows operating system. Some people mistakenly refer to a DOS command prompt as a command prompt. The command prompt is definitely not a DOS prompt. This is a Windows application that allows you to run the command-line tools we use to run in DOS. As far as you're concerned you can't run command-line tools, don't worry, you can still run the most common commands for the most commonly used commands, such as Ipconfig,ping,arp,nbtstat,nslookup. You can also copy and paste in the console as you would at a command prompt, start any application, stop and start the service, run System File Checker (SFC), Chkdsk, and almost everything you run at the command prompt. I say it almost because you can't run some commands in PowerShell, such as MD (create directory), RD (delete directory), PATH, etc.

The advantage of using PowerShell is that you can benefit from the best of both worlds. You can run PowerShell, which you must do frequently if you are a technician, and you can still use common commands that are used in the command Prompt window.

Here's how to replace the command prompt in Windows 10 with Windows PowerShell

1. In Windows 10, if you right-click the lower-left corner or press the Windows + X key, you will notice that there are two links associated with the command prompt. One is called a command prompt, and the other is called a command prompt (administrator).

2. Right-click any blank area on the Windows 10 taskbar at the bottom of the screen and select Properties

3. On the Navigation tab, select the box "Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the menu if I right-click the lower left corner or pre SS Windows Key +x "then confirm

4. The command prompt is replaced with the PowerShell prompt immediately. You do not have to restart the computer or log off and log back on.

5. You can clear the box in step 3 above to quickly switch back to the command prompt.
