The difference between a WAP mobile phone and a general mobile phone is that it has built-in minibrowser, cache, and memory. It is a new communication tool that integrates mobile phones and mobile computers. It not only provides common mobile phone functions, but also supports browsing WAP websites, sending and receiving emails, faxes, and viewing stock market quotations.

Environment

The advantage of this method is that it is easy to implement and easy to learn. However, Windows browsers support most WML tags, and the window interface can be expanded or reduced. Therefore, the situation is very different from the simulation on the mobile phone. In addition, the integrated environment for editing, compiling, and debugging is not provided.

Second, simulate the environment

The simulated environment uses the WAP mobile phone simulator provided by mobile phone companies to implement WML browsing. Simulators that can be downloaded online for free provide a complete integrated development environment. This method provides an integrated environment that is basically the same as that of the WAP mobile phone. However, it is hard to say that the simulators used are exactly the same as those of their products, and there is no gateway involved (some simulators can set the gateway). Therefore, this is an incomplete detection, in particular, WTA (wireless telephony application)-related services cannot be detected. For the development stage, such an environment is sufficient.

 

Finally, the actual environment

Depending on the location of the gateway, the actual environment can be set up in three ways:

1. Use the mobile carrier's dialing and gateway.
2. Use public gateways (there are some such public gateways on the Internet ).
3. Use your own Gateway (using simple dial-up access software and free gateway ).

However, the cost of using the WAP Gateway provided by the mobile operator is less than that of the other two methods. For example, a mobile operator requires that the WAP Internet access fee is 0.2 RMB/minute. If you use direct dial-up to your own gateway, you must pay at least 0.4 RMB/minute for the municipal fee. Unless there are special requirements (for example, building an intranet WAP network or considering security issues)

The current WAP mobile phone price is obviously not as popular as it was in the past, but it can be seen from the practicality that WAP mobile phones are still worth something.

First, the WAP mobile phone is small, powerful, and easy to operate. For example, the Fujitsu f503i in Japan has a body size of less than 135mm x 46mm x 15mm (height x Width x thickness) and a weight of only 77 GB, however, the LCD screen uses a color 120-color LCD with a width of 160 x vertical 256 lattice. The full-angle text box contains 10 lines + the title line, phone Book 500 groups (each group has two numbers and two addresses), each of which has 20 phone numbers, 9.6 kbps of data communication speed, and the continuous call time is about 135 minutes, the continuous standby time is about 430 hours.

Second, the built-in operating system and the WAP mobile phone of the browser provide stable performance and won't cause system crash due to misoperations. It can transmit data with the computer and laptop, and can transmit data and images quickly, it can also support short messages in Chinese, so that people who do not know the computer can learn a variety of online operations in a short period of time, browsing a variety of mobile Internet. The author's mobile phone can view emails on Yahoo, but only the Mail name can be seen, which has a lot to do with the mobile phone's own functions.

Using WAP mobile phones to surf the Internet is currently the most fashionable thing. However, due to objective constraints, WAP mobile phones are currently not so satisfied.

  1. Mobile Internet access is slow

Because WAP supports circuit-based data exchange, mobile phone users need to use a service channel to access the Internet and communicate with each other. When several users access the Internet in a residential area, when a wireless channel is used for a long time, wireless network congestion may occur, and other users cannot access the network. In addition, when a kHz voice connection is used between the mobile switch and the Access Server, the user's data call establishment time will be up to 30 seconds to 1 minute, which is nothing for fixed users, but it is intolerable for mobile users.

  2. low transmission rate and unstable connection

Currently, the highest user access rate provided by the GSM circuit data service is 9.6 kbps. At this rate, only a small amount of text information can be transmitted. In addition, due to the disconnection rate of the wireless network, the connection becomes unstable and the so-called connection times out.

  3. WAP Standards are becoming increasingly mature

There are some problems with the compatibility between WAP products of different manufacturers, especially between WAP terminals and WAP gateways of different manufacturers. In the past, the WAP products of various manufacturers were based on the wap1.1 standard, and their functions were limited. Now it is the more powerful WAP 2.0.

  4. Online practical information is gradually increasing

Due to technical reasons, the current WAP Gateway cannot convert HTML to WML. Therefore, WAP mobile phones cannot browse common web pages, but only web pages written in WML. At present, WML is used to write a small number of websites, which greatly limits the ability of mobile users to obtain information. The existing WAP websites should develop innovative content applications based on the characteristics of mobile users, leading the Fashion Trend of mobile Internet access, only in this way can mobile phone users enjoy the same enthusiasm for accessing the Internet as using computers.

Therefore, mobile Internet access needs to become popular and requires two prerequisites. One is that WAP must be easy to operate, and the other is that network operators must step up the basic construction of WAP networks, make WAP mobile phones useful.

In China, different sim cards can be divided into China Unicom and mobile ". Because China's telecom departments in various provinces and cities have their respective WAP devices, even if they belong to one company, the WAP devices used are different.

The actual environment is similar to the above. Purchase some mainstream WAP mobile phones and activate the WAP service. There is a web server on the Internet for testing. Connect the WAP mobile phone to the existing gateway to truly enjoy the WAP service.

Because China's WAP network is still in its infancy, it is difficult to ensure the stability of the network. The service scope of WAP users in China is still limited, and the slow speed is also a problem.
