Installing the Iftop Port Traffic monitoring tool (compiled installation) under Linux CentOS

Iftop can monitor the real-time traffic on the server port, so install the iftop on the server by compiling the installation below.

The installation steps are as follows:

1, download the source package iftop-1.0pre4.tar.gz:

#wget http://www.ex-parrot.com/~pdw/iftop/download/iftop-1.0pre4.tar.gz

2, enter the source package directory/usr/soft/, unzip:

#tar-XVF iftop-1.0pre4.tar.gz

3, enter the Iftop directory after decompression:

#cd Iftop-1.0pre4

#ls //View directory Contents

4, start the compilation installation:

1) Install the iftop into the/usr/soft/iftop/directory:

[Email protected] iftop-1.0pre4]# /configure--prefix=/usr/soft/iftop/

2) Follow-up installation via #make and #make install.

3) The installation is complete, the flow monitoring can be carried out by #iftop command (with relevant parameters).

Compile and install:

Prerequisites: In the presence of a compiled installation environment (development tools: GCC;p erl;python;glibc;gtk;make; automake , etc. ). 1) mostly tar.gz and tar.bz2 packaged software, mostly through

#./configure

#make

Installed #make install.

2) Some software is directly

#make;

Installed #make install.

3) We can pass

#./configure--help to view the features of the configuration software.

4) Most software is provided./configure configuration software functions; Few of them, if they don't, they don't.

./configure, just make;make the install on the line.

5)./configure A more important parameter is--prefix, with the--prefix parameter, we can specify the software installation directory, when we do not need this software, directly delete the software directory is OK.

#./configure--prefix=/usr/soft/iftop //Specify installation directory
