Interpreting Cisco's Global Mobile Internet Development Trend Report (1)

When you leave the room and realize that you forgot your cell phone, do you feel naked? We cannot imagine the feeling of having no mobile Internet access in an hour, or even the life before the birth of the mobile network, even though it is not that long ago. Data scientists at Cisco, a network company, predicted the development track of mobile networks in the next five years by studying how we used mobile devices in 2014.

The statistics provided by these scientists are exciting. For example, in 2014, the Global Network Data reached 30 bytes (Exabytes, or 30 billion GB ). In the next five years, due to the explosive growth of smartphones, tablets, wearable devices, videos, and the Internet of Things (IOT), network data may reach 300 bytes. That means 65 trillion photos (or 23 photos per person), or 6 trillion YouTube videos (2 videos per person per day ).

In the next five years, the number of mobile network users will increase by 1 billion, from 2014 to 4.3 billion in 5.2 billion, and more than 10 billion mobile devices will be deployed. The network connection speed will increase from 2014 to 4 Mbps.

Mobile network users and devices will increase mobile data traffic by 10 times.

The fastest growing mobile network traffic in the world is the Middle East and Africa. However, the Asia Pacific region has the highest proportion of network data traffic, which will reach 2019 in 39.1%.

The average monthly cellular traffic in 2014 is 585 MB, which can be increased to 2019 MB by 4406. By region, North America has the highest cellular network traffic, which will reach 2014 MB in 2019 from 11029.
