Lonely feelings in the broken back Mountains

It seems that the night is just a drop of dusk, and it is like the dawn before the morning fog dispersed, when the layers of colors are not winding mountains appear in front of my eyes, the lights of a wagon are shining with blurred and yellow light. When the screen is slowly approaching from right to left at the bottom of the screen, the story of broken arm mountain begins.

Going to see "Broken arm Mountain" is not out of curiosity about gay stories. Although this is the most widely used part of the comments, it is more out of interest in the film produced by director Li. I have seen many movies by Li 'an, from "Pushing Hands" to "wedding banquet", from "catering men and women" to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", from "reason and emotion" to "Ice Storm". in every movie, the way the story is told, and the design of pictures and actions are extraordinary. In particular, his efforts to shape film figures, describe and express delicate emotions, and explore the inner world, which is both depressing and crazy and restrained, has almost reached a superb realm. What is particularly attractive to me is his understanding and explanation of Chinese and Western cultures. His neutral attitude towards the two cultures and the attitude of the onlookers are not humble, and his appreciation and integration of the essence of the two cultures. This kind of posture and vision are also strongly manifested in his broken arm mountain, but here the object is not culture, but human nature, it is a part of human nature that does not conform to the "regular"-the relationship between the same sex.

In a boring summer, two young men (Jack and ernis) came to the work place at the foot of the broken arm Mountain and met each other to shoulder the task of grazing thousands of sheep on the mountain. In addition to laying the sheep together, two people also work in a division of labor. One is responsible for logistics, and the other is responsible for night monitoring to prevent the sheep from suffering from bad luck. Between the mountains, there is almost no human trace except for trees and streams, except for sheep and a few other animals (such as deer and bears. Because of the division of work, the two herdsmen had almost no chance to meet each other during the day and night, except for three meals a day. Because the two are both introverted and rarely talk about each other. As a result, when the whole movie was shown for 20 minutes, almost no one heard it. The Artistic Conception of loneliness gradually penetrated into the isolated world. In that lonely environment, any two "living together" people, whether men or women, may have extraordinary feelings. This is because it is a situation in which "people" are "non-" and "natural ecology", and it is irrelevant to the moral issue that "can't" create feelings between two men. In an environment where a person is absolutely lonely and independent of nature, if a man and a woman are grazing together, the relationship may rapidly emerge, and there is no so-called moral issue. Now two men are grazing together. If both men are absolutely "normal" in their sexual orientation, at most they will become hardcore buddies. One of the two men, Jack, has a very serious gay orientation. On this isolated broken arm Mountain, due to loneliness and mutual warmth and care, the strong infection of ernis also aroused deep love for each other. Because this kind of relationship does not have any social significance in the mountains, it is just a product of nature, so the two people enjoy themselves, and the broken arm mountains become the Garden of Eden.

After the summer grazing, the two men returned to the "human" and started a "normal" Life: marry, have children, and support their families. When they broke up, they didn't even leave their mailing addresses because they didn't look forward to the future. Who knows that in daily normal life, the experience and feelings in the broken arm mountains have precipitated and become more and more distinct and more intense. One day four years later, when Jack's postcard was sent to his house, he was so excited and unrestrained. The two finally met again, and the feelings and thoughts accumulated for many years could no longer be controlled at this time! All this was seen by the wife of Enis, but she was not noisy, but quietly swallowed the tears of humiliation into her stomach.

Since then, two people will always look for opportunities to spend each year together. This time has become a highlight of their future lives, but it has been a big blow in the heart of ernis's wife, and she finally put forward a divorce. On the contrary, Jack's wife remains in the dark until Jack is killed. The divorce in ernis gave Jack hope that he would drive to visit ernis in a distance and hope to stay with him for life. However, for fear of man's words, and for fear of unexpected events (we saw the target gay man when we were young), ernis flatly refused Jack's request, and the two men beat and went out of blood, then wipe the shirt cuff with your hand. After their quarrel, Jack was unfortunately murdered, 39 years old. He left his last words asking him to scatter his ashes on the broken back hill.

At the end of the film, ernis went to visit Jack's parents. The old man lived in an extremely shabby rural residence, and his face was filled with loneliness, vicissitudes of life, and grief. Ernis walked into Jack's room when he was a child and the room was full of space. Only the wooden cowboy statue on the desk was the most eye-catching, the cowboy riding on the horse looks like the image of ernis on the broken arm Mountain. Then ernis walked to Jack's closet and slowly stroked Jack's clothes, as though he wanted to smell Jack again. Then he saw the shirt, which was still stained with blood on its cuffs and hidden in the innermost part of the closet. He couldn't help holding his shirt in his arms, and buried his face in his clothes and burst into tears!

The feeling of human loneliness revealed in the broken arm mountain seems to have exceeded many ideological boundaries. The love between the two men should have been a matter of fact. They did not directly impede the interests of anyone. Why is it so painful, so difficult, and so sneaky that they were finally killed? Perhaps it is the humanistic feelings of the film and the loud questioning of some modern "courtesy" that has won the favor of many film reviewers, making it the winner of the seven Ballon d'or, and became the nominee for the eight Oscar awards, and the film director Li an once again boarded the peak of the film art.
