Because the temperature control PID parameters on the control panel have not been corrected. If the heat is too fast, it is possible to heat up and cause the parts to burn.
The Marlin has the function of providing PID parameters Auto-correction (PID Autotune)
After the heater, temperature sensor line is connected, the G-code "M303 C8 S175" (Auto tuning pid parameters, temperature shock 8 times after the stop, the target temperature of 175 degrees. )。
If you receive the wrong message "PID Autotune failed! Temperature too high, which represents the initial test condition, will let the temperature exceed the target temperature of 20 degrees. At this time, you need to fix the Pid_max in the firmware (the upper peak current limit of the heater). Modify the Pid_max in the Configuration.h (for example, to the original half), then re-burn the firmware, then go back to the previous step to do "M303 C8 S175". If the temperature does not go up after the re-test, please increase the pid_max. If the temperature is still the same, please continue to reduce pid_max.
Pending receipt of "PID Autotune finished! Put the KP, Ki and KD constants into Configuration.h, and replace the DEFAULT_KP in Configuration.h with the last round of KP, Ki and KD values in the test process. Default_ki and DEFAULT_KD. After re-burning the firmware, complete the crowded temperature control correction.

RAMPS 1.4 The smell of burning!? It should be your hot bed or hot bed route. I don't think modifying PID parameters is helpful for your problem.
