Microsoft Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) is a new group policy management solution that helps you manage your enterprise in a more cost-effective manner. It consists of an embedded unit in the Microsoft Management Console MMC and a set of group policy management interfaces that support scripting. GPMC will be provided as an independent Windows Server 2003 component.
Usage of GPMC
GPMC is designed to simplify the management of group policies by providing a unified place for managing the core areas of group policies. You can regard GPMC as an all-in-one resource required by a management group policy.
GPMC can meet the customer's top-level group policy deployment requirements by providing the following features:
- User Interface UI that simplifies the use of group policies ).
- Group Policy object GPO) backup and recovery.
- Group Policy object import/export and copy/paste, and Windows Management specifications WMI) filter.
- Simplified security management for group policies.
- Generate an HTML report for GPO settings and policy result set RSoP.
- The GPO operation Script Programming method provided by this tool-but does not support the Script Programming Method for GPO settings.
Before GPMC appears, the system administrator must use several different Microsoft tools to manage management policies at the same time. GPMC integrates the existing group policy management functions of these tools into a unified console and provides the new features listed above.
Manage Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 Domains
GPMC can use Active Directory®The Service manages Windows 2000-based and Windows Server 2003-based domains. Regardless of which domain is managed, the management computer running GPMC must use an operating system listed below:
- Windows Server 2003
- Install Service Pack 1SP1), other hotfix programs released after SP1, and Windows XP Professional of Microsoft. NET Framework.
