6. Hide 'show all files and folders 'in 'Folder options'
In fact, there are more ways to do this. Let's conduct an experiment: Run "regedit" to start the Registry Editor, open KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ explorer \ Advanced \ Folder \ Hidden \ SHOWALL. To ensure security, export the branch and then delete the SHOWALL branch, open the "Advanced Settings" window and you will no longer be able to find the "show all files and folders" option. Naturally, no one else can modify it!
Friends who have some knowledge about the registry will soon be able to understand the mysteries: all the settings in the original "Folder Options" are saved in the branch of the registry... \ Advanced \ (same as above. As long as you do something in the Registry, the "Folder Options" dialog box is in your hands!
Take Windows 98 as an example. The eight primary keys under the Folder primary key correspond to the eight options under files and folders in the advanced settings window respectively, the three primary keys under Visual correspond to the three options under "Visual Settings" respectively. For specific options, you only need to view the "Text" key values of each primary key name and primary key in the right pane of the registry editor window (2 ).
For example, if the key value of "Text" corresponding to the SHOWALL primary key is "show all files", it indicates that the SHOWALL primary key corresponds to the "show all files" option in the "Advanced Settings" window. Therefore, after we delete this SHOWALL branch, we will not be able to find this option any more, even if it is called "Open Sesame.
To prevent others from modifying a folder option in "Advanced Settings", we can use either of the following methods:
1) make the option "disappear"
As mentioned above, this option is not displayed as long as the primary key branch corresponding to the option is deleted. For example, you can delete the HideFileExt branch to disable the hide extension of known file types. If no backup is available, it is troublesome to restore the branch after it is deleted. In fact, there is a simpler way to disable the option: Find the binary key value with the key name "Type" under the corresponding primary key, double-click to modify its key value, you can disable this option by adding any number after the original key value. For example, if you change the key value of "Type" under the primary key of SHOWALL from "radio" to "radio2", the corresponding "show all files" option will not be displayed. In this way, you only need to change "radio2" back to "radio" to restore the display later.
2) Make the modification "invalid"
The option is not displayed in the dialog box, which may cause suspicion. If modifications do not work, they can often confuse others. Under the primary key corresponding to each specific option, there is a binary key value named "CheckedValue". When the key value is changed to "0, changes made by others to any option will not take effect (Note: if the primary key corresponds to the check box option, the "UncheckedValue" key value can be found under the primary key, check whether the value is "0". If not, change it to "0" first ").
For example, deselect the "show all files" option in "Advanced Settings" and change the "CheckedValue" under the SHOWALL branch to "0 ", no matter how it is set in the dialog box, the hidden files are not displayed in the resource manager, making your files more reliable. Of course, as long as the key value of "CheckedValue" is changed to "1", the modification to the corresponding option can take effect immediately.
