Let's talk about the new exemption policy adopted by the Ministry of Education this year. In August 4 of this year, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on further improving the work methods for recommending outstanding undergraduate graduates to study for postgraduate students without trial". In this document, the Ministry of Education officially launched a reform plan to promote student-free enrollment. In summary, the difference from the previous research protection policy lies in:

Promotion and exemption are no longer classified, internal protection, engineering and engineering. Promotion and exemption students apply for and accept students in the "push and exemption Service System" developed by the Ministry of Education. No one may interfere with students' independent choice.

This is a big change compared with previous policies. As we all know, the previous research Protection Policy is a standard for colleges and universities to develop their own research protection policies, then, we selected at least 20% of the students to communicate with external schools (that is, we usually call it "out-of-Warranty"), and the remaining 80% of students can only be transferred to the school for research. All candidates apply for and accept the application in the promotion and exemption service system. That is to say,As long as you can obtain the number of research institutes in your school, in theory, your graduate student can apply for any domestic university, and your alma mater cannot limit your choice.

As for the promotion of exemption, regardless of engineering, it only means that your undergraduate school will not distinguish between the promotion and exemption, and the work will be done by the enrollment colleges. That is to say, the number of places you receive for free is not limited by the project or master's degree in engineering. You can choose either of them at will when pushing for free from the system, however, when enrolling students, colleges and universities will decide whether you are going to work or engineering based on your review performance.

Why should the Ministry of Education Reform the University's exemption policy? In fact, the principle is also very simple, in order to enhance the communication between schools, to avoid the so-called phenomenon of academic kinship reproduction. In fact, compared with the postgraduate entrance exam, it is clear that among the postgraduate students, the proportion of communication to external schools is about 75%, which is more than three times higher than the 20% of the postgraduate entrance exam. In fact, a few years ago, the Ministry of Education has conducted a series of pilot projects on new research policies in some colleges and universities. For example, before Wuhan University of Technology, the internal and external protection methods were completely released. As a result, 40% of the Promotion and exemption students were successfully transferred to external schools. This proportion has doubled over the national average. Perhaps that is why the Ministry of Education decided to further promote the new policy to colleges and universities nationwide.

To be more fashionable, the previous promotion is a bit like a planned economy, with fixed quotas for both internal and external protection, engineering and engineering. Today's policies will make the promotion completely market-oriented, on the one hand, the competition threshold is greatly reduced, and on the other hand, risks and opportunities are also full.

Opportunities do not need to be said. risks under the new policy cannot be ignored. After all, there is not much room for us to choose for schools at the level of xidian: C9 colleges and universities, Beihang University, National Defense University, and other top 985. For these colleges and universities, especially those in the northern part of China, they have mentioned that they must push at least 20% of their students to external schools when implementing the old research protection policy; under the new research policy, in theory, 100% of the students in the school can be pushed to the door, so that the number of students left to the external school will inevitably decrease. For any university, the students in this school are their best students. Naturally, the university is willing to give priority to the students in this school. I have counted the number of students (including engineering and engineering, excluding direct blogs) recruited from the computer College of Zhejiang University in 2013 and 2014, that is, before and after the implementation of the new policy, the numbers are 116 and 93 respectively. The 93 or Zhejiang University reduced the number of postgraduate students this year and left the number of students after the promotion. This is naturally a big plus.

Finally, I will talk about my feelings based on the situation of the college and my own research.

As I have said before, under the new policy, there are certain risks in the development of external school insurance. However, according to the actual enrollment situation this year, the students of xidian are still quite competitive in general. In our college, many of the students who had previously only been admitted to the internal school have now successfully obtained the admission from the external school. The proportion of external communication is estimated to be doubled from the previous one. Of course, for students whose scores are lower, when applying for a school, you may be able to report only 985 & 211 (for example, Xijiao, wuda, huake, beiyou, and Huanan tech ), or less popular schools (such as Zhejiang software College and Tsinghua deep research institute ). Therefore, you do not have to be too pessimistic about the prospects and be confident in the future.

As for my own situation, because I am more interested in games and animations, I chose computer graphics as my research direction in my junior year. During the winter vacation of my junior year, I probably investigated the graphics strengths of major colleges and universities, at that time, I decided to use the "graphics and geometric computing laboratory" of Tsinghua University and the CAD Laboratory of Zhejiang University as my "first volunteer" for the research ".

In my junior year and next semester, I learned a little about graphics and kept in touch with graphics teachers in major universities.
