My views on teams, projects, and products

After the project was decided to start the revision, we went to Ericsson's China headquarters for the first product meeting of the project. The core team members basically attended the meeting. The meeting was very successful and was inspired by many ideas, here I will briefly share my feelings.

1. Standardized team management

Our team members are all Beihang graduate students. The school lab is working with Ericsson China lab and guided by the head of Ericsson China lab. A successful team must be inseparable from a good system and team culture. The trend and development trend of a team have a great relationship with the team leader. Therefore, the atmosphere of a team is very similar to that of the team leader.

In terms of team management, I always think that it is very important to exert the maximum potential of every team member and mobilize their enthusiasm. The potential of a person is unlimited, people never know how powerful they are, so we emphasize constantly exploring their potential. When team members encounter problems, we encourage them to study and explore on their own, to understand the cause and effect of the entire problem, you may be able to solve the problem in the process and learn a lot at the same time. A small startup team like ours may take into account multiple responsibilities, So discovering the potential of other members has become one of our daily tasks, and everyone will face different challenges, faced with different new problems, I have always attached importance to the problem solving process. Of course, at the same time, we will have a focus, that is, our core skills. Every team member has his/her own fields and skills, what we need to do is to allow each team member to maximize their core skills, and then use their enthusiasm, curiosity, and desire to take responsibility to develop their capabilities in other aspects, such as the market and operation. An efficient team must have a set of internal mechanisms to encourage its normal operation. I think this central axis is the common goal and vision of everyone. The same expectations are combined with the same upward efforts, as you keep improving, your team will grow and your personal value will increase.


2. Project Management

We also talked about standardized and effective project management methods. The success or failure of a project depends largely on efficient and reasonable project management. Traditional software project management methods are no longer suitable for the development of software projects. redundant processes and operations directly lead to project delays or failures. Too many problems may occur due to the process-based approach. The obvious difference is the improvement of project time control and communication costs. Our project adopts the scrum development model, which requires fast iteration, problem tracking, and timely communication to ensure that the project can be pushed forward effectively and with high quality in a short time. We use two weeks as a sprint to specify a project plan, requiring timely feedback to the problem, ensuring the progress while improving the overall quality of the project. At the same time, project testing is also an important part, the automatic test method is used to track and test various functions of the project, and the functions of the project are reviewed and optimized at the end of the iteration cycle.

Every morning, we asked every Hitachi meeting for a brief communication between team members. The main purpose was to focus on three aspects: 1. What did we do yesterday? 2. What are you going to do today? 3. Is there any problem? The meeting time is limited to 15 to 20 minutes. The purpose is to give team members a comprehensive understanding of the overall situation of the project and understand the work done by others, or ask your own questions for help. The importance of communication is emphasized here.

After each sprint is over, we will review and review meetings, requiring all team members to participate. The content covers the following aspects: 1. completion of the previous sprint; 2. problems that impede the project; 3. how to Improve the next sprint; through this method, problems will be solved one by one after iteration, mutual tacit understanding will gradually increase, and the efficiency of the entire team will also continue to improve. So far, this is a feasible project management method.


3. Product Innovation

Focusing on product innovation is one of the most discussed topics. The positioning and development direction of products are the primary issues we need to determine. Regarding product positioning, I think we must first define the product category, whether it is social, educational, tool, or game. After determining the type, you need to divide the user groups of such products, including the gender, age, and time of use of the main user group, the Research on user psychology is also an important aspect of determining product requirements. In addition, the user experience is currently the main factor determining the quality of a product. A good user experience can resonate with the user's emotions and produce a sense of trust and intimacy with the product. The user experience involves too much content. I will not elaborate on it here. I plan to write a special article on my research and experience on user experience later.

Describe the final value embodiment of the product we developed, including the social effect and the value brought to users. Of course, products cannot be separated from the market. Therefore, after determining the product positioning, we should analyze the trend and future trend of the entire market and determine whether our products can fill some gaps in the market, whether it can inject fresh blood into the market. Today, the prevalence of micro-invasive innovation and fill in the middle, but also made a lot of successful products, but I think it is really necessary to innovate, to give new vitality to the product, we still have to start with the most primitive needs and the most fundamental needs of mankind. For example, when we use mobile phones, making phone calls and sending text messages is the most primitive requirement. Therefore, my understanding of innovation is not just about creating new things out of thin air, but on the basis of the existing original needs, to develop a field that can contribute to this original demand. This is innovation. The purpose of creation and innovation is to solve the needs, and our needs all come from the original needs. Want
