PS Simple steps to quickly change the photo to pencil sketch effect

Pencil sketch is a very unique effect, so do not want to know how to use PS to convert ordinary photos to this effect, the following let small series to tell you:

Step 1

To open the photo you want to add the effect to, it is best to choose a photo with 6 million pixels (3000x2000px) below:

Step 2

To facilitate modification and reduce the number of layers, we convert layers to smart objects, perform: Layers > Smart objects > Convert to smart Objects so that the filters you add are smart filters that you can modify at any time:

You can distinguish between normal layers and smart object layers based on whether there is an icon in the bottom right corner of the layer thumbnail.

Step 3

Copy the Layer two times, and then name the layer from top to bottom, with the outline, left diagonal, and right diagonal:

Hide the top two layers and select the bottom layer:

Step 4

Execution: Filters > Filter gallery > Sketch > Pens, set stroke direction to right diagonal, other parameters such as figure, after adjusting click OK:

Step 5

Click the left diagonal layer and unhide the layer, repeat the 4th step, which changes the stroke direction to the left diagonal:

Change the opacity of the left diagonal layer to 50%:

Select the contour layer and remove the layer from hiding, performing: filter > Styling > Find edge, layer blending mode to multiply, which will add some colors you don't want to see, we will remove these colors in the next step:

Smart object layers cannot be adjusted with hue/saturation or go color commands, but you can add an adjustment layer by entering layers > Creating a new Adjustment layer, or you can apply a layer style to adjust it, I prefer the second method, because this method does not need to add new layers.

Click: layer > Layer Style > Color overlay, Color set to white, gray, or black (any of these three colors can), set blending mode to "color", and then click OK when finished:

Copy contour layers, click: layers > Layer styles > Clear layer styles, clear layer styles, click: Layers > Smart Filter > Clear Smart Filter, change layer blending mode to color, rename layer to color, done:

You can click on any of the layers of thumbnails to make changes to the image, which is the advantage of smart objects.
