Registry in a 64-bit Windows operating system

x64 system has x64, x86 two kinds of registry, recorded. The registry in a 64-bit Windows system is divided into 32-bit registry keys and 64-bit registry keys, and many 32-bit registry keys have the same name as their corresponding 64-bit registry keys.

In Registry Editor for the 64-bit version of the system, the 32-bit registry key is displayed under the following registry key:

Hkey_local_machine\software\wow6432node

Using the default 64-bit version of Registry Editor %systemroot%\syswow64\regedt.exe, you can view or edit 64-bit and 32-bit registry keys and key values.

You can also use the %systemroot%\syswow64\regedt32.exe 32-bit version of Registry Editor to view or edit 32-bit registry keys and key values.
