Router interface

Windows2003VroUse a routing interface to forward unicast IP, IPX, or AppleTalk packets, and multicast IP packets. There are three types of routing interfaces.

1. LAN interface

A lan interface is a physical interface, which usually represents a local connection using LAN technologies such as Ethernet or a ring. The LAN interface reflects the installed Nic. The installed WAN adapter is sometimes a LAN interface. For example, some "Frame Relay" adapters create independent logical LAN interfaces for each configured virtual circuit. LAN interfaces are always active and do not require authentication.

2. Request dialing Interface

A request dialing interface is a logical interface that represents a point-to-point connection. A point-to-point connection is based on physical connections, for example, two routers connected over a analog telephone line using a modem ), or a logical connection, for example, connecting two routers using an Internet Virtual Private Network ). The request dial-up connection is a point-to-point connection established only when needed) or a point-to-point connection established continuously and then kept connected ). The request dialing interface usually requires connection during authentication. The device required to request a dial-up interface is an interface on the device.

3. IP tunneling interface in the IP address

The IP Tunnel interface in the IP address is a logical interface that represents a point-to-point connection with a tunnel established. The IP tunneling interface in the IP address does not need to be connected during authentication.

Packet Filter

The Windows2003 vro2003 supports IP and IPX packet filtering, which specifies the type of communication that can enter the vro. The data packet filtering function of the Windows2003 router is based on division. You can set the packet filters for each interface and configure them:

Transmits all communications except the data packets prohibited by the filter.

Discard all communications except the data packets allowed by the filter.

For example, machine A and machine B are pinged by vro1 1, and vro1 1 is configured with the input filter AB to block the incoming ICMPInternet Control Message Protocol) Data Streams. Therefore, the vroicmp discards ICMP data packets, therefore, computer A cannot PING computer B, but other protocols will pass through the router smoothly. 5-13.
