Similarities and differences between science and Nature journal Papers

The science and nature two editions have their similarities in form:

For example, scientific and technological papers appear in 3 forms: (1) Academic papers: "Nature": Articale; "Science": Research Articale; (2) Study report: "Nature": letter; ;(3) Newsletter: "Nature": Correspondence, "Science": letter. The research article is long, generally can be about 5-7 pages. The research report is generally 2-4 pages, and the communication generally does not exceed 1 pages. However, an important difference between the two editions is that "science" allows for more than one document under the reference number in the reference literature, and also allows for the inclusion of a brief explanatory note in the reference literature. These 2 points are not allowed in "Nature". Therefore, in the same type of article form, "science" provides a larger space. This is a very worthwhile consideration in situations where space requirements are extremely stringent.

Science's scientific news reports are impartial and objective, allowing readers to learn about the science realities in China and around the world. Science also reports on a number of interviews with scientific policy and fund management decision makers.

2) Scientific compass columns include: editorial, reader's letter, policy forum, Science and Society, book Review, Research Commentary, review, technical features, etc. This column is mainly manuscripts to scientists. Chinese scientists have also published editorial and policy forum articles in science.

3) Research results columns include: Research articles (particularly important research advances) and reports (short essays on important research advances). The Science editorial board and 16 editors selected about 1 research articles and 15 reports each week.

The main paper format of the Nature magazine reflecting the original research work is "letter" (Letters tonature) and "article" (articles).

1 "Letter" (Lettersto Nature)

is a shorter original research work report that focuses on an important discovery, and its importance means that scientists in other fields will also be interested in it. The length of such a paper should not exceed 2.5 pages of the Nature magazine, and the reference should not exceed 30 articles. The paper begins with a natural section of no more than 180 words, indicating all the necessary references, and the reader object is a scientist in other fields. This text outlines the background and principles of the research work, followed by the main conclusions of the paper, with "Here we show" or similar phrases to guide. A short introductory paragraph is allowed, but the subsequent body part should be limited to a brief description of the discovery and only a small section of the discussion.

2 "article" (articles)

is a report reflecting the original research work, whose conclusions represent a substantial advance in understanding an important issue, which is of interest to readers in many different fields. The length of such papers does not generally exceed 50 articles in the 5 pages of the Nature magazine. (a full page of text is about 1300 words). This type of paper has a summary of the non-standard reference, separate from the text, a maximum length of 150 words, which does not contain numbers, abbreviations or units of measurement, unless it is necessary. As in the beginning of the "letter" paper, this abstract part of the "article" paper is also a brief introduction to the background and principles of the research work, followed by the main conclusions of the paper guided by the "Here we show" or similar phrases. The article itself begins with 500 words and references, and further introduces the background of the research work (and some repetition is allowed in the summary section), then makes a concise and centralized analysis of the findings of the research work, and concludes with one or two shorter sections. Such papers should have several headings, each of which should not exceed 40 characters in length.
