Many of the use of Windows NT/2000/XP and other operating systems of friends, recently received inexplicably, automatic pop-up "Messenger Service" window, its contents dazzling, there are illegal advertising, pornography dating, reactionary speech ..., and even the transfer work (Figure 1).
This occurs because the Windows NT/2000/XP operating system automatically starts its own messenger service when it is powered on, and can receive and send pop-up messages to other computers, which are exploited by malicious software to send spam messages to other computers on the internet, and the message content directly on the other computer screen (very scary). These malware can automatically search for an IP address segment, send messages to each computer, and some software even claims: "Every hour can scan tens of thousands of IP addresses", "access to global hundreds of millions of computers," is Shing.
Since these malicious programs are sent using the Messenger service, we can stop Windows from receiving Messenger ads if we turn off the messenger service. There are three ways to:
First, manual prohibition
In Windows 2000, click on the "Start-〉 Settings-〉 Control Panel-〉" and double-click the "Admin tools-〉 Service" to open the Service control program to locate the "Messenger" item,
Double-click the item, click the "Stop" button (stop the service already started) and change the "Startup type" to "disabled" (the next time you start Windows, the service will no longer automatically start and cannot be activated by another program unless you manually change it to "automatic" or "manual"). Then click the "OK" button.
Second, in the Msconfig prohibited
If you find this manual operation cumbersome, you can download a separate System Configuration Utility MSconfig.exe (download address: http://download.pchome.net/system/treak/11873.html). It is stripped out of Windows XP and can be used under Win2000.
Run the program, click on the "Services" tab, locate the "Messenger" item, cancel the previous tick mark (Figure 3), and click "OK". When you restart the computer, the Messenger service is no longer automatically run with the system startup.
Third, use 3721 Internet Assistant to prohibit
However, using MScongfig.exe is still more troublesome, the easiest way is to use 3721 Internet assistants. Visit the Internet Assistant website assistant.3721.com (click "Yes" in the pop-up prompts dialog box, install Internet Assistant), click on "messenger ad intercept" link, go to the corresponding function page, as shown in Figure 3:
Simply tap the "Turn off Messenger feature" and "Turn on Messenger" to make the appropriate settings.
Tip: On the assistant.3721.com page, hold down the "Messenger ad blocker" link and drag to the desktop to create a shortcut to the page. It is convenient to double-click the shortcut later to enter the page.
Well, with the above three methods, I believe you will be able to successfully sniper SMS from Windows Messenger harassment.
