When Exchange is damaged, a normal day can quickly become the worst day in your life. It takes several hours to support an Exchange Server online. It never stops. people responsible for managing good things want to test you or warn you every five minutes.

During the restoration process, the user will immediately lose the Exchange connection. However, they will be interrupted for much less time if they have to wait all day for recovery from the backup tape.

If your Exchange server is completely damaged due to some major disasters, but your idle network is useful, here is how you can perform this restoration method.

Step 1: bring a new Exchange server online and restore the mailbox

1. Use the Active Directory user and computer to migrate the original Domain Server and the mailbox of each user.

2. Once you select all available accounts, right-click them and select Exchange task commands.

3. Follow the prompts to remove the mailbox.

4. The next step is to bring a new server online and install the Exchange Server. Give the new server the same name as the original server, and make sure it runs the same version and patch package as the original server.

5. After the Exchange is installed, return to the Active Directory user and computer and create a mailbox for your user. You can use the same method to migrate your mailbox: select all user accounts, right-click them, and select the Exchange task option.

6. Now select the create mailbox option and set it as prompted.

Step 2: Merge and repair information storage

You have an online New Exchange Server and created a mailbox for each user. Assuming that the new server is fully configured, you can send and receive emails. The trick is to merge information storage on new and old servers. You can use the restored storage group (RSG) to implement this task ).

1. Open the Exchange system management and choose manage Groups> your management groups> servers> your servers.

2. Right-click your server and choose new> restore storage group to view the restore storage group attributes.

3. Replace the specific region to fix the transaction log and system path. You can use any path you want to use, but there must be sufficient disk space in a specific area to store the information you want to fix.

4. Click OK to create a recovery storage group.

5. Right-click Restore storage group and select "add database to fix" to view the list of all information storage in your Exchange organization.

6. Select the desired information storage and click OK twice. After a short period of processing, Exchange will create an information stored in the recovery storage group.

Important: do not try to configure new information storage. If you do this, the check file will be interrupted and a large number of problems will occur.

The next step is to restore your information storage backup. Now, you should only restore the mailbox. In this case, do not try to restore public folders or log files. You can restore them later, but only after you remove the recovered storage group.

When you restore your mailbox, restore them in standard mode. Compared with information storage, the recovered mailbox will be automatically restored to the storage group for reprocessing.

After the restoration operation is complete, set the mailbox storage that is included in the restoration storage group. The mailbox storage will be initialized and cleared, so refresh the system management to display the repaired mailbox.

Step 3: Exchange databases and integrate data

Now there is an old version of mailbox in the recovery storage group, but you also need to have a temporary mailbox in the information storage, so that users can send and receive mails in just a few hours. You can only merge mailboxes, but there are two problems. First, if you have a large information storage, merging will take a long time. Second, merging two information storages will cause problems between rules and old files. A better solution is to first exchange the database and then merge the data.

1. First, prompt your user that the server will be interrupted for the next period of time.

2. Create a folder named "Save the original" (Save_Original.

3. Now, you can use the Exchange system management to store information and repair the databases in the storage group.

4. Use the Windows browser to move the. EDB and. STM files of the repaired storage group to the "Save original" folder created above.

5. Go back to the Exchange system management and delete the database that fixes the storage group. This will delete the logical database structure, rather than the database itself.

6. Return to the Windows browser and find the directory containing information storage.

7. Create a folder named SaveDialTone.

8. Copy the. EDB and. STM files to the SaveDialTone folder.

9. Now, go back to the Exchange system management and change the path of information storage so that it points to the path of the database for restoring the storage group.

10. Move the files in the Save_Original folder and return to the path for restoring the storage group.

11. Go back to the Exchange system management and right-click information storage.

12. confirm that all information is correct and select the database tag.

13. Select the "This database can be replaced by a repair" option box and click OK.

14. Now you can configure information storage. The user will receive all their old information.

15. Return to the Windows browser and create a folder named DialTone under the SaveDialTone folder.

16. Right-click the repair storage group and select "add database to repair"

17. Select the information storage you are using and click OK.

18. In properties, enter the path to the DialTone folder and click OK.

19. Finally, move the file from the SaveDialTone folder to the DialTone folder and configure the fix storage group database.

Step 4: fix the mailbox

The last step in the process is to fix the mailbox. Before you do this, make sure that your Exchange2003 has been patched with patch 1. Otherwise, this technique will not work. If you cannot install patch 1 for some reason, use the ExMerge utility in the workspace.

1. To fix the mailbox, select the mailbox in the mailbox list of the storage group.

2. Right-click the mailbox and select the Exchange task option.

3. When the Exchange task wizard opens, click Next, select the mailbox data recovery option, and click Next again.

4. Confirm the target email address fix and click Next.

You must first decide whether you want to merge the repaired data to your current mailbox, or you would rather copy the content in the repaired mailbox to the top of your existing mailbox. Because of the merge options, When you exchange databases, using the copy option will cause a big problem.

5. Click Next and you will be prompted to enter the date and time on which you want to run the repair operation.

6. Next, the mailbox will be repaired.

7. Complete the operation.
