The method of ADSL dial-up Internet on Linux operating system

1. Installation

Yum Install rp-pppoe.x86_64

2. Configuring the PPPoE client software

After you install the package, you must configure the configuration file/etc/ppp/pppoe.conf for PPPoE to use parameters such as user name, password, and so on in the configuration file when ADSL dials. We do not have to manually change this file, you can use adsl-Setup This tool to configure: #/usr/sbin/adsl-when Setup appears>>>Enter your PPPoE user name: Enter the username for the ADSL account when it appears>>> Enter the EthernetInterfaceconnected to the ADSL modemfor Solaris, This  isLikely to be something like/dev/HME0. For Linux, it'll be ethn,whereN isa number. (defaulteth0): Enter the eth0, which is the name of the ADSL connected network card. When it appears>>> Enter The Demand value (defaultNo): Enter no when it appears>>>Enter the DNS information here: Enter server, which means that the IP address of the DNS server that is automatically obtained using ADSL dialing occurs when>>>Please enter your PPPoE password: Enter the password for the ADSL account when it appears>>> Choose A type of firewall (0-2): Enter0, do not use a firewall when it appears>>> Accept These settings and adjust configuration files (y/n)?If the information entered is correct, enter Y, complete the configuration, otherwise, enter n re-enter. 

3. Start the PPPoE client software

Use the command: #/USR/SBIN/ADSL-/var/log/messages information in /usr/sbin/adsl-stop shutdown and ISP connection /usr/sbin/adsl-StatusView current state of connection if you want to start the ADSL connection automatically when the Linux system starts, enter the following command #chkconfig–add ADSL will add the ADSL self-boot script under the current run level. 

4. Testing

--  The IP address obtained above the default GW using the command #nslookup www.sina.com.cn if the IP of Sina is resolved, the DNS server has been correctly obtained from dialing. Finally, using the command to ping a domain name or IP, if there is a response, you are done.
