Thinking about "Who I am"

Some people say that there are three high frequency problems in the journey to the westward, which is the ultimate problem of philosophy:

1. Who I/You are

2. Where to come from

3. Where to go

I want to talk about my thinking about the first question. These thoughts originated from my daughter.

Six months ago, I often asked my daughter, you are not a good boy, is not a troublemaker, is not this, is not that.

Her answer was: "I'm not xxx!. I'm Wlx (her name is abbreviated). ”

At first I thought it was very funny. But after hearing a lot, I thought it was the purest and the most correct answer. Maybe each of us is just ourselves.

As the years grow, we get a variety of things, knowledge, education, experience, connections, resources, jobs.

Various titles or identities: college students, genius, programmers, master, cock Silk, leadership and so on.

These things in most cases will help us go better and farther.

But sometimes, we are bound by these things in turn.

I know some senior programmers who have found an opportunity unrelated to programming or it, and after hesitating, decided to continue to be a programmer because they don't want to give up their current position, salary and knowledge.

Have seen a lot of college graduates, because of education, but not willing to do the bottom of the work, or agriculture, even if he found that there are business opportunities, and among them because of personal resistance, but also because of concern about the social environment to give pressure.

It has also been seen that many titles are front-end or back-end programmers, refusing to touch and learn technology and knowledge in areas unrelated to their titles.

And of course I've seen a lot of other examples,

If the North drift programmer quit selling meat clip bun.

Such as Ali programmer quit selling fruit.

such as NetEase pork and a variety of graduate students, undergraduates graduated home to participate in agriculture.

There are many examples of success.

Of course, I'm not saying that none of the above is good. I just want to say an idea:

When we have some ability or choose a direction, we can focus on the direction of applying our ability to live better.

For example, a computer science students graduate, choose to be a front-end programmer.

If you use the game perspective to interpret, he chose the front-end programmer occupation, the corresponding skill tree to unlock him, although the beginning is gray, but can be slowly lit by effort.

If it is in the game, this time, his other professional skill tree will be blocked.

But the difference between life and game is that even if we choose a career, the other direction of the skill tree will not be blocked, as long as we want to, can still light.

In a game of words, you never have a chance to learn to be entangled in death because you choose to be a druid.

Looking at the community, mastering the cross-industry skills of the compound talents abound, and seems to have mostly been good.

So what I'm saying is, don't let what you know and learn all the possibilities of limiting yourself.

Many of the people I know are afraid to try other possibilities because of what they have now, even if he thinks that's a huge opportunity. The main reason not to try is mostly, the cost of the attempt is to abandon the past investment, time, energy, money and so on.

It's like being a druid, seeing a copy that only a warrior can (suppose), though rewarding, even if it can be transferred, but the time and energy that was spent on the druid have wasted a lot. Cannot give up, finally decided to abandon.

It does take courage and it is impossible to pre-convict the results. The role of courage is just one more chance to try, and no one can guarantee that there will be something to be gained in the end. Choose and try the results, also have to bear.

But if you want to change the status quo, always try to start.

While real life does not block other career paths because of career choices, most people will still be able to put their own ideas on the chain of thinking because of career choices, and they may be shielding themselves from other possibilities (and possibly based on the pressure of the crowd around them).

At this point, I think what we need is the courage to return to the origin.

If we choose programmers, other career paths are blocked, as if God had opened a door for us and closed other doors.

This time we may as well take a step back, go back to the original room, or go back to the status before choosing a career.

Maybe we can see the other scenes in the room and see the skill trees, directions and possibilities of other professions.

Perhaps everything that had been blocked before was opened.

Although we may not immediately change the status quo, at least, we can remove the shackles of thought, open our minds, let our brains open.

The liberation of thought has been a great harvest. Of course, if there is a better chance of discovery, the change in action may lead to a gain beyond imagination.

Not too much to say, not too little, feel the end of it.

If someone asked me who I am, I am a programmer?

No, it's not.

I can do what programmers can do, and I can do things that programmers can't do.

I am not defined by the ' programmer ' three words, nor by other tags. I am only defined by myself.

When I want to do or should do something, not wicked not illegal premise, I will do, no matter what I am in the occupation, have what skills.

Actually, I'm just me.

This is what I think about the question of who I am.

Thank you for watching. Happy children's Day. By the way expect World of Warcraft movie:)
