This is Windows8 's on-screen keyboard, it's cute, isn't it. Unless I don't need it or don't want to see it. I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon touch, and it already has a keyboard. I never wanted to touch the keyboard with WINDOWS8. Unfortunately there is no check box or "Just turn it Off" way to disable the keyboard to choose from.
However, it is still possible to disable it efficiently by stopping the service that controls it.
Press Winows Key +w
Enter "Services" and press ENTER
Pull down to "touch Screen Keyboard and handwriting panel"
You can choose "Stop" or double click to change "Automatic" to "Manual".
This will definitely disable both touch and handwriting, so you will lose handwriting recognition. This is worth it to me, it makes my touch screen notebook experience better, especially when I'm using a Full-screen browser. I hope it helps!
Note that if you have a touch-only device or a removable keyboard, you will find it difficult to do without a keyboard, so if you are in trouble, prepare your mouse and plan to reopen the service.
