Layer 2 multicast configuration case requirements
1. Three S3600-SI and a S3600-EI composed of two layer multicast network, SwtichA selected S3600-EI, SwitchB, SwitchC, SwitchD selected S3600-SI;
2. multiple Multicast sources can be connected to any of the four S3600 Series Products, and the receiving end can only be connected to SwitchA to receive multicast data from any Multicast Source on SwitchA.
The networking diagram is as follows:
S3600-EI vlan 1 Virtual Interface address: 192.168.0.1/24
Configure Layer 2 Multicast
1 H3C 3500 3600 5600 Series Switch configuration
SwitchA Configuration:
1. Enable igmp-snooping in the System View
[SwitchA] igmp-snooping enable
2. Enable the unknown multicast discard function in the System View
[SwitchA] unknown-multicast drop enable
3. Go to vlan 1 Virtual Interface View
- [SwitchA]int vlan 1
-
- [SwitchA-Vlan-interface1]ip address 192.168.0.1 24
-
4. Go to vlan 1 for related operations
- [SwitchA-Vlan-interface1]quit
-
- [SwitchA]vlan 1
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping enable
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping querier
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping general-query source-ip 192.168.0.1
-
SwitchB Configuration:
1. Enable igmp-snooping in the System View
[SwitchB] igmp-snooping enable
2. Enable the unknown multicast discard function in the System View
[SwitchB] unknown-multicast drop enable
3. Go to vlan 1 and enable the igmp-snooping function under vlan 1.
- [SwitchB]vlan 1
-
- [SwitchB-vlan 1]igmp-snooping enable
-
The configurations of SwitchC and SwitchD are the same as those of SwitchB.
2 H3C 5500-SI 3610 5510 Series Switch configuration
SwitchA Configuration:
1. Enable igmp-snooping in the System View
[SwitchA] igmp-snooping enable
2. Go to vlan 1 Virtual Interface View
- [SwitchA]int vlan 1
-
- [SwitchA-Vlan-interface1]ip address 192.168.0.1 24
-
3. Go to the vlan 1 view for related operations and enable unknown multicast discarding.
- [SwitchA-Vlan-interface1]quit
-
- [SwitchA]vlan 1
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping enable
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping querier
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping general-query source-ip 192.168.0.1
-
- [SwitchA-vlan1] igmp-snooping drop-unknow
-
SwitchB Configuration:
1. Enable igmp-snooping in the System View
[SwitchB] igmp-snooping enable
2. Go to the vlan 1 view and enable igmp-snooping in the vlan 1 view. Meanwhile, enable unknown multicast discarding.
- [SwitchB]vlan 1
-
- [SwitchB-vlan 1]igmp-snooping enable
-
- [SwitchB-vlan 1]igmp-snooping drop-unknow
-
The configurations of SwitchC and SwitchD are the same as those of SwitchB.
Key Points of Layer 2 multicast Configuration
1. The igmp-snooping querier and igmp-snooping general-query source-ip 192.168.0.1 settings in the SwitchA vlan1 view enable the device to act as the queryer;
2. enable unknown-multicast drop enable on SwitchB, SwitchC, and SwitchD on devices that support the v5 platform, that is, 5500-SI, and 5510 enable igmp-snooping drop-unknow In the vlan view so that unknown multicast is not generated on SwitchB, SwitchC, and SwitchD.
