Use readyboost in Windows 7

Recently I changed my new notebook, HP probook 5310 M, which can be used in all aspects, but has only one memory slot. However, the current memory is relatively expensive, and a single 4G memory is about 700. For those who are familiar with 4G memory, I think 2G computers seem to be crawling.

If you do not want to upgrade the memory temporarily, you have to try the new feature readyboost from Vista. In addition, it is said that the performance of readyboost is optimized and enhanced in Windows 7.

When there is an idle 4g usb flash drive in the house, all the space is allocated to readyboost. For space allocation, the Windows 7 help document mentions that it is better to double the memory. So, my space is just right.

With readyboost of 4G space,ProgramThe startup speed of is indeed improved. Of course, I have no actual tests and cannot talk with data. However, the random read/write speed of the USB flash drive is critical to the readyboost function.

In terms of read/write speed, the minimum requirement is that access devices such as flash disks should speed up to 2.5 Mb/s when reading 4 kb files at random, and when writing kb files at random, the speed should be no less than 1.75 Mb/s. to make full use of readyboost technology's performance advantages, flash disks and other access devices should be able to read 4 kb files at random at a speed above 5 Mb/s, when a kb file is randomly written, the speed should be no less than 3 Mb/s.

Because I think it is inconvenient to insert a USB flash drive to my computer, I plan to buy an SD card so that I can keep inserting it in my notebook. 4G Kingston Class 4 card, about 70, I took my laptop to test the speed. It is found that the random reading speed is about MB, which is far below the speed of 5 MB. The previous USB flash drive can reach around MB.

To make full use of readyboost, it is critical to allocate space and random read/write speed.
