Use the Windows XP Program Compatibility Wizard feature to play old games

Now many people are using the Windows XP operating system, its gorgeous interface and stable performance has been recognized by everyone. I don't know where I'm coming from. Want to play some old games, can be installed to know that they do not support Windows XP. In fact, Windows XP has long considered this issue, the operating system has added a new feature of the Program Compatibility Wizard, we will use the old game as an example to introduce its use.

First click on the menu "Start-All Programs-attachment-Program Compatibility Wizard", in the pop-up dialog box click "Next" to run the "Program Compatibility Wizard." (Figure 1)

If the game or program you want to install cannot be installed under Windows XP, then choose "I want to use a program in CD-ROM drive" to do the following, if the game or program can be installed in Windows XP but not run, then select "I want to select from the list of programs", Generally, the latter situation is more, select the good and then click Next. In the list of programs, the operating system lists all installed programs, we select the program to be set up, and then click Next. The next step is to select what operating system the game used to run normally in the past, and the old game can run in Windows 98, so choose Microsoft Windows 98/windows Me. (Figure 3)

The old game is much older than the use of 640x480 and 256-color display mode, the use of a higher color and resolution is not able to run, disabling the visual theme is to overcome Windows XP visual themes affect the old game, so here we put three check boxes are selected. (Figure 4)

After you have completed these basic settings, you will begin to test the game, and then click the "Next" button to start the game test. (Figure 5)

Because the test will start after the game, it should be based on the game to choose the next settings: The normal operation of the program to select the first item; The game is not working properly, to try other settings to choose the second; (Figure 6)

If we choose the first or third item in the previous step, we will go into the setup interface, and in general, choose No. (Figure 7)

Now the entire game-compatible wizard process is complete, and if you want to adjust or remove this compatibility setting, you can rerun the Program Compatibility Wizard.
